This is my first post here so I hope I don't break any rules. I finally found some limb lions, they yellow and green lion last night and I was so excited to open them up. Green is my favorite looking of the new lions in Legendary Defender. I really was dissapointed about the neck articulation and the underbite. So I decided to attempt to fix this. Thanks to jbvirus for the inspiration and showing the bionicle ball joint for the neck.

It was surprisingly easy to do this.
I used a dremil drill with the smallest drill bit and a saw attachement. I also used krazy glue and green pipe cleaners for the attachement.
Now I just need to find the red and blue lions.

Again, this is my first post here and my first full fledged mod that isn't just painting. If there is any way I need to fix the post. please let me know. Thanks.

Holy Primus! This is awesome! Great work on this mod dude! This answered a few questions I had about the green lions neck area, and I realize now the mod idea I had for the green lion probably wont work. This mod though is so much better then the idea I had and I seriously cant wait to try this when I get Red and Green. Super great job dude!

If you want a tighter jaw, you may have to drill new holes through the head, and insert parts on the sides of the mouth. Because the pipecleaners I used are mainly place holders. They hold a pose really well but they wouldn't be able to hold a sword, or my upcoming shield idea. just letting you know.

Thank you so much for your comment! It means a lot.

No problem man, it is cool seeing other people Voltron mods. Seeing this has given me an idea for the shoulder area, looking forward to seeing your Shield idea.

this is pretty cool. Though I'd upgrade to something stiffer than pipe cleaner steel. Those things are liking to fray and break on a moments notice.

I will thanks. I was just using them as a place holder to mark where I need to drill the holes for the new pin. Would anyone happen to know the best way to cut a pin to length?

depends on how thick, use wire cutters for small diameter as thick as a paper clip, anything bigger maybe a dremel cutting wheel or hack saw with the pin mounted securely on a vise wear googles or eye protection in case the thing goes flying

Hi, did you remove the teeth or reattach them? I just got this set and although I do love it. The mod/custom bug hit me and I've got to improve this thing. Those head upgrades look awesome. I plan to do them and do a repaint. I'm just unsure if I want the weathered look the show has, or just a clean paint job. I'm looking at what everyone's done and it's all quite inspiring

Oh I shaved off the teeth because I didn't like them personally. I don't think you have to shave them off, save that for after you've removed the jaw, and see if the jaws fit together without removing the teeth. If it doesn't you may have to slim them down until they do.
The most secure way to hold the jaw is to drill a pin hole through the cheeks.

Also, keep the metal spring and re-incorporate it into the new mouth placement so it can still hold things. Good luck and have fun!

Did you reinforce the pieces of the jaw with anything like jb weld, or did Krazy Glue™ alone did the trick?

I can't see the pin in the cheek, you covered that up really well.

Sorry, these pics are before I drilled the pin. And I ended up placing 2 pieces of wood on both sides of the jaw, glued them and painted. They didn't have any trouble staying in because of the pin. The jaw itself, Crazy clue had worked okay, but I would reccommend something stronger, especially if you leave the spring gimmick to hold the sword (or any other accessories) in the left hand.

Also, the red lion's jaw was considerably harder to remove to add the ball joint. The pin is under the cheeks for that one, and I ended up ruining one side to remove them. Just be aware of that.

Also also, look up some shield tutorials for the black lion's wings. It's really easy to do with a transparent blue binder divider, something to use as a handle, and something to fill in the gap in the center.

Good luck, Have fun! And take pics and show em if you can. :)

I'm still really new to customizing myself.

Thanks. I have the larger wings just for the shield. Thanks for the advice

Just to throw this out there but you can do this without cutting the bottom jaw. i actually slotted the hole in the jaw to shift the jaw back. The plastic is thick enough in the jaw to create a long enough slot. I didnt like the idea of cutting the jaw. The teeth are a problem moving the jaw back but you can shave them down on the back side enough for it to still work without getting rid of them completely. It doesn't look as good as it does here because of the teeth but it doesn't look bad either. I also removed the spring in both red and green lions because who doesn't want to do a roaring pose? I used some future to tighten the jaw so it can hold weapons. It holds good enough to hold my custom wing shield.

I also want to do the neck upgrade. So, I think cutting may be necessary. If anything, maybe the teeth can be repositioned. I've got two Transformers customs to do first.

Also, there seem to be more mods for this set... Like Voltron's shoulders position/articulation and arm length/elbow articulation.

I'm also looking into complete disassembly of the legs to do a thorough repaint.

However, what everyone has done is great. I'm looking to get those Bionocles parts this week
