A little review on these snack sized wonders. Here I was, wanting Quintesson Judges so badly- but not willing to invest $700 into snagging a few of the the Impossible Toys version. I had been watching these smaller, cheapy KOs on EBAY for months. Since I didn't see any posts/threads about them by doing a search- it seemed like few people here were interested either. They went on sale for $9 and I said screw it- I'm gonna give them a shot. With hundreds of units purchased I figured some people are clearly enjoying them- even if there is no significant buzz on the forums now. My quintuple of five-faced harbingers of Autobot death arrived today- and I can honestly say they're one of the best impulse buys I've made! Packaged in a cute little box that looks like it contains pork buns from an Chinese bakery, or perhaps some fresh mooncakes with a manufacture date of 2011- I wasn't expecting the contents to be quality. I did however appreciate the graphic which instructs the order in which the faces appear in the cartoon and movie. The materials feel firm and strong, easily on par with the quality of plastic in any other 3P product. The paint apps are smooth, sharp and flawless on all the faces. The bendy wire tentacles make for some squiggly posing fun, and the pink energy beams are firm. I don't even mind the smaller scale since the cartoon was never consistent and in my mind- these malicious, manipulative, malcontent, mayhem making mockers of justice should be small in comparison to the race of robots they tortured and enslaved! I actually like the scale- and they do not feel cheap. Far more value than some insanely overpriced 'upgrade' kit (remember MP-22's add on kit?) with a few little bits of plastic or some soft detailed, unpainted Shapeways product. While they do not have the light up feature of the IP versions- at $10 shipped a pop (instead of whatever those are going for on EBAY) they will do more than be a place holder until some company takes a chance on an MP scale quint set. They even arrived at the same time as my Autobot symbol dry rubs so I've been geeking out all day! So happy!
I picked this guy up a couple of months ago and he's a neat little figure indeed. Someday I'll hafta pick up a few more of him.
I have one. While cool... Too damned small! Good thing I'm going after all of the 3P legends, I found something to pair it with.
I finally ordered one and it's made it to the US. I plan on using using it for my CHUG collection. I always viewed them as being small with the Sharkticons being the brute muscle. I know animation varied on size but I like to think of the being slightly bigger than humans. This will work great for my needs
I bought one on eBay, and while the description said 8 centimeters (including the energy beam below), I thought it was 8 inches (not including the energy beam below). Imagine my surprise when this teeeeeeeny little thing arrived.
I have both these and the Impossible Toys Quint-01s... I like these small scaled ones for my CHUG collection and the IT ones for my MP collection. The Legends Heroes quints go _exceptionally_ well with the Titans Returns Sharkticons.
I think it's the rubber/plastic they used and it doesn't get along with the paint. Mines the same way. And those twist tie legs annoy the hell out of me. They won't stay posed and like to swing around.
