Ok we know why he is priced leader class the included 3 cassettes Buzzsaw finally! This is the Netflix mold re done like the dramatic capture and SG sets. It seems to suffer the reported leg shift dramatic capatue had. I honestly cant wait for a new mold of Soundwave,Ravage, and even Laserbeak . SS86 please. Only because I own 5 versions of this mold. You know sucker for Soundwaves and certified cassette junkie. That being said this isn't really a review just showing differences and whats new. His light pipe eyes are darker than Netflix.

Even as someone who has been against a lot of SS86 redos, Soundwave needs some kind of new mold treatment.

The Siege mold never really worked as a boom box and despite their best effort to shove the square peg into the round hole, it still really doesn't fit and this release shows how old hat this figure has become.

 

The Cassettes are looking better than the originals.

 

I'm so tired of this mold. When are we getting a new soundwave..........

 

I’m happy with my Cybertron Soundwave personally; I just want the cassettes.

 

Ravage's eyes should have been red. And we need a Laserbeak now with the same parts cast in black. That little detail does make the robo-condors look much better. The robo-condor has always been a decent transformer.

This is still an ok Soundwave, but yeah, we really need an SS86. I'd be ok with an SS86 housing the same cassettes. The only cassette bot that really needs a re-do is Ravage. Even cast in all black, which definitely helps, it just doesn't look right.

The QC on this thing is atrocious and possibly the worst of the 4 versions yet.

Has the newly molded thigh pieces (different than Netflix but somehow not as bad on SG version despite showing up there first). Legacy Soundwave can't stand with legs straightened out.

NONE of the tapes eject properly in any of the 4 possible orientations. In fact, some feel like they get scary stuck. It is possible to force open the door when it feels stuck, although doesn't feel great at all when trying.

It's a combination of the new tapes and new chest door. The Legacy tapes have some qc issue where they don't quite get as compact as earlier tapes. The new chest door just feels wonky and 'degraded' compared to Netflix version.

I can get all 3 Legacy tapes to eject properly in Netflix Soundwave but in fewer orientations compared to the earlier tape versions.

Conversely, I can only get Netflix Laserbeak to pass eject test in Legacy Soundwave.

Other notes:
The red visor is like the Netflix version and NOT the broken Dramatic Capture Series version, where it's so dark that it breaks the lightpiping.

The silver paint is replaced by a more muted metallic gray. Some may like this, some may not.

The door gold is like the DCS version and not the bright yellow of Netflix.

Of the non-SG figures, has the most red pinstriping.

 

That’s funny as the tape deck on my yellowed to shit Netflix one can’t open with a tape in there without prying open with my fingernails, same with this one and I’ve always chalked it up to modern Hasbro can’t do gimmicks for jack. Other than that the tolerances on mine are fine. The nylon panels on Netflix can’t stop popping out, whilst on this one it’s fine.

 

It's nice to see that Buzzsaw actually has his neck and legs molded in black plastic like they should, instead of being done in gray like it was on Netflix Laserbeak. Makes that mold look 10 times better already!

I'm not sure if its just the pictures here, but the grays on Soundwave's arms, thighs and feet appears the be slightly lighter/more metallic than on the original Netflix Soundwave. Can anyone confirm whether it's actually a new shade of plastic used or if it's the same color as Netflix Soundwave's?

This is already passed. No need for this. Soundwave needs an SS86 update.

 

United Leader Soundwave is definitely the "mushiest" of all versions of the mold.

 

Sounds like I've got it covered with the NF and dramatic capture sets. I guess the acquire cassettes sub routine I've had running since siege will end unceremoniously.

 

Until a new SS86 version of this comes along I’m good with my yellowed as all hell NF version.

Also, is it weird that I think the old Siege version has the best proportions?

 

So I guess the consensus is no1 be getting this? My NF version hasn't yellowed but I wantz bullsaw.

Well, our Netflix figure hasn't yellowed, nor our figures in general. That's a topic for another thread.

The gray plastic is different than Netflix, as well as gold paint on the door and the silver paint apps replaced by a muted metallic gray.

 

I'm digging the bright yellow color on Buzzsaw. I may cave in and pick this up as my Netflix Soundwave is really starting to "age" lol. Plus the Blue Cassette is different colors. I mean SS86 Soundwave is inevitable, but still. I've wasted more than $55 on a bad dinner before.

 

I'm probably getting it too. Watch a month later they announce SS86 Soundwave...
