that's my boy Toys R Russ- they must've invited him out to preview the reveals. He did similar videos at the last London Comic Con iirc.

 

Character nostalgia aside, I much prefer this color scheme over the weird clashing purple and tan of Blitzwing. Forest green and gunmetal silver is a much more aesthetically pleasing color combo to me

I admit I wish Mark hadn't got quite so creative with the deco, but it's likely to be the only Overcharge toy we get for the foreseeable future, so I'll live with it. He missed a chance to recoup some points by giving him the old Quintesson symbol. Hopefully he'll ship before the end of the year.

 

I look forward to seeing him on shelves for the next 2.5 years.

 

Hate that they put 'Con symbols on this guy, if they didn't want to put Quint symbols on it for some inane reason, they should have just left it insignialess. Also was it really too much to ask for them to have done this?

 

Probably just leaving room for Takara to do a more "accurate" version. I've never held the original version, but it seems more white where United is silver?

It's a very light grey, the boxart for the original Overcharge figure was silver, though; and also had a Con symbol on its chest as well as a normal Blitzwing face since it was just recoloured from his boxart, which makes me think they simply took a cursory look at this boxart when they made this figure.

Also, just noticed from looking at the original that they stuffed up its canopy colour, AGAIN. It's supposed to be blue much like how Blitzwing's was supposed to be turquoise (or silver if you want toy-accuracy). But for some reason, Hasbro seems obsessed with making Blitzwings with incorrectly coloured canopies, same happened in Titans Return where it was clear while Legends was turquoise.

 

Not defending it, but he likely based the deco off of the package art rather than the toy proper: (most evident in the green thighs)
If we got a toy-accurate Overcharge that was sold as “Overcharge Squad Commander” or something like that I’d be down to triple dip on the mold Hasbro…

 

I realise it’s not quite the same, but there is a Ground Heavy Weapons Trooper in Transformers Devastation and we’re already getting toys from that line next year.

The ER Runabros / Conehead molds are being used, and I could definitely see this as a trooper for Overcharge to command or be from same unit as.

 

And ignored the colours used on that, too.

 

I think it's a fairly sharp color scheme.

Wow, Overcharge looking pretty bad. I wonder how discounted a Leader class can go because this one looks so bad I doubt it will sell well. Should have been a Gen Selects or something.

 

Blitzwing himself discounted to around Voyager price when he came out.

 

Yup - still really annoyed by how badly they fucked this one up

 

I hope everyone hates Overcharge and he gets discounted so I can buy multiples. I like the Blitzwing mold. I like the colors. I love Diaclone colors. Win win win for me.
