Thundertron first appeared in the Prime toyline back in 2012. I used to own the original toy, but I never liked it that much. This new one is pretty cool.
    Packaging:
    20231212_135038.jpg
    Robot mode:
    20231212_194122.jpg
He has a different shade of blue than the old one. I like this dark blue better. This one has shoulder pads that the old did not have, but I think they look fine. The way the front beast legs fold up inside them is neat.
The right foot is removable and can attach to the sword. This is to give him a peg leg. Because of this, the right foot has no ankle tilt, but the left foot does. The rest of the articulation is pretty standard.

    Beast Mode:

I love this mode the best. The mouth can open and close. The rear legs are the robot legs so have the same articulation. The front legs are pegged in place. They hinge at the "elbow" and the paw and have a bicep swivel. These joints are all used for transformation to fold them into the shoulder pad. The sword stores somewhat awkwardly on the back.

    With some Prime toys:

I think it's such a waste they didn't give him Nemesis Prime's sword that turns into a bird. Would've been pretty perfect as his parrot and the sword form looks almost identical to this guy's sword.

Would've gladly had that rather than awkward paw holding.

I might pair this up with the targetmaster Airazor from the Rise of the Beasts mainline. That turns into a shield, blaster, and has a pretty sweet bird mode.

I wanna get this but first, wanna see what that Walmart Exclusive one will look like. If it goes on sale it'd be worth it too

Walmart’s theme for transformers next year is the Star Seekers.

Great update to a figure (that never showed up in the show and thus didn't really need an update). Fixes the flaw of the original waist and too much clear and much richer solid colors.

Only thing, how could they miss adding a slot for the sword to peg into the sideskirt! Such a simple thing and he's a pirate come on. The storage for the sword in bot mode is same as alt mode and is dumb for bot mode and awkward for alt.

To be more specific, there's a listing in there for Thundertron at a Leader Class pricepoint. Some are speculating that he might come with he comes with one of the rock weaponizers rececoed in gold, which would be pretty cool.

I hope it's the Black Go Prime deco. Call it deep space Thundertron. That said, I'm gonna bet it will be the PRiD toy color scheme complete with translucent blue plastic, but a man can dream.

I use Go! Prime as my SG Alpha Trion, such a great deco on a fun figure.

I just pulled out my original Thundertron to compare against this new one. I *love* the original colors and wish this new figure had the brighter look of the OG.

Is there a specific, pre-mixed color in any hobby paint line that would match "energon blue" ? I'd love to plus up the current Thundertron with some OG details.

    I thought it might be.

I've been waiting to see if that would work since pics of him first surfaced. :lol
