You’re probably right! Maybe I’ll keep my eyes peeled for a good price and keep him in the closet for a while.

Honestly I do not understand the hate for these colours. This is just straight fire condensed into a figure and he looks infinitely more interesting in the comic accurate bright blue.

I can kind of understand complaints about the shading paint, but idk give me an alcohol wipe and most of it’ll be gone cus it seems to be only on unpainted bits

I have no problem with the shading on Straxus here.

I only have issue with the bit on his neck? Idk I feel like cus he’s a miner you could just straight up say it’s not shading, it’s dripping oil

Don't know if it's just me but Straxus is the only marvel sublime release where I actually buy the comic shading. Like, the first few times I saw him I actually thought the cannon was shiny. No interest in the character but if you're a Straxus fan this seems about as good as you're ever gonna get.

He isn’t a miner though, his signature weapon is just a pickaxe.

We definitely need one without the shading. The shading is cute, but it's a gimmick. It's not like I won't be able to see Marvel Straxus in him without it. It also cost a lot of other details it seems, like triangles on his legs, which are very prominent in said comics. And of course shading like that, whether cell shading or comic ink shading, really doesn't translate that well to 3d objects anyway and will look odd or poor at certain angles.

It will take a lot more effort than alcohol to remove tampos. At least I haven't ever had much luck beyond the most basic paint apps.

Yeah, tampos take a lot more effort than regular factory paint, in my experience. I wouldn't be surprised if you ended up removing the paint underneath a tampo before the tampo itself.

Maybe get Straxus a fun novelty t-shirt to cover the tampos

Really? I mean, I'm definitely NOT a fan of shading (although this toy doesn't have it as badly as other figures), but I can't see how, without the shading, we'd have gotten the leg triangles. Those, it seems to me, were lost because the toy is using Galvatron's (round) legs.

Sure, I'd have preferred to get a new-mold Straxus, but this really does evoke the character amazingly well, and it's hard for me to imagine getting a better Straxus in my lifetime, so I'm grabbing this one while I can.

Right, and triangles can't be painted on, because those thighs are on the same nylon mold as the collar. There's no way that any comicky paint detailing could have been traded for triangles on the thighs. Even retooling the thighs would have been an exponentially larger expense than any amount of paint.

I’m with G.B. Blackrock on this. I’m preordering Straxus while I still can as opposed to canceling said preorder to save money and hoping it comes in stock later on (like I did with Party Wallop). There are other things on my list that would be cancelled first. I’m not missing out on the opportunity to own a comic-accurate Straxus (even if he does have ink shading on parts of his body) because he’s one of the best retools I’ve ever seen.

I’d prefer the dark shade some images show but the colors are fine as they are.

This with shading omitted would be great, holy hell.

Also even if the shading was removable, I wouldn't dare try on the alt mode barrel as that appears to be all painted.
