Starscream is still intact
Fair play to ya, I'll never say you're not allowed to have your own opinion.
Is bulkhead meant to fit into the kingdom/ark line ?
While they don't do anything for me, I don't have any big issue with the energon weapons.
The only thing is, I thought Hasbro had moved past line-wide gimmicks. They've had success with the Studio Series line and I thought they'd sort of figured out, finally figured out that what their customers want more than anything is just good representations of transformer characters. How is it that they think this adds value? Is there some market dynamic to explain why they keep falling back on this occasionally (in the past) crippling strategy? Are retailers more likely to pick up a line where every character has headmasters, combiners, or whatever it is imposed on them?
The only line-wide gimmick they've ever needed is to have robots that transform into other modes. Is that not gimmick enough?
The artwork in the background is cool. It should make for some nice box art.
Yeah, even if it's not perfect, Smokescreen/Prowl is a way better fit for Barricade than Springer would be for Drift. (Honestly, I think I like Barricade better as a black Datsun repaint than I would if he was a new mold based on the Evergreen/TLK design, I never liked that one much.)
Consider this: In the early days of CHUG there was no way to get slavishly accurate G1, due to the technology of the times and the much lower budget. If you wanted accuracy you bought MPs. But we are now at that point where G1 and BW can get fantastic Generations updates, so there's no reason Prime fans shouldn't want Hasbro to keep the energy. "I waited 20 years so you should too" is not how things should be.
Also worth mentioning that characters from Cybertron/Animated/Prime/etc. were designed from the ground up with the toy in mind, so its a different situation than G1s frequent cheating in the first place.
What do you mean by inaccurate Hoist?
That isn't IDW at all. That's art of him from the old Transformers Collection reissues from Japan.
Not good first impressions of the line in my opinion. I\'ll get Skids still for my Chug. Bulkhead is a big no.
Agreed, I do really wish they'd given him a more angular front end like that. That's my only real problem with him that couldn't be addressed by an upgrade kit.
I can forgive Er Barricade because it's not supposed to be the movie Barricade, I get why they didn't do the micromaster Barricade because of the failure of them, he fits perfectly with the trilogy
Also how has there been so many (Well four is a lot in my books) posts about Barricade in this thread?
Anyways, related to this thread I really dig that Skids
I suppose they didn't go with a more rounded cab design to avoid figure not being able to put its arms down straight. The engineering would have to change quite significantly to accomodate that.
Skids....... looks okay? Not bad but not great either.
Bulkhead on the other hand looks amazing.
Really dig this guy
"Yes, that's Bulkhead.":
* Has a good Prime Bulkhead-based head sculpt
* Has a wrecking ball hand-replacing weapon.
* Torso is formed from the whole front of a truck.
* "It is green."
"No, that's not very Bulkhead."
* Has almost none of the curves/slopes/rotundness of Prime or Animated Bulkhead
* Prime/Animated Bulky is more gorilla-proportioned, with broad body and arms generally larger/beefier than the short(ish) legs. Maybe one could argue this is closer to AOE/TLK Hound.
* Other than the head, weapon, and maybe coloration, gives no impression at all as to who it is. If a B&W photo with the head cropped was shown to someone who hadn't seen it previously, they'd probably assume it was an upcoming Optimus toy, and they probably aren't wrong.
That's a perfectly adequate mock up, and capably demonstrates your point. It's a relatively simple alteration, but a substantial improvement.
The toy designer basically said it's G1 Bulkhead. That's good enough for me.
Both look like bangers, definitely excited for what’s ahead.
Why is Bulkhead Bulky?
He's supposed to be somewhat Pudgey. That's the whole Joke.
Also He looks like a Bulky Fusion of Prime Bulkhead and Movie Hound.
The proportions of Siege / Kingdom Ironhide. A tall Deluxe.
And you are lucky paying $30 for it. Voyagers are $45 on my side of the world.
Skids' thighs looking like silver painted over blue plastic kinda irks me, but everything else looks solid! And look at those big red stompers!
And awesome how Bulkhead looks like a big old fusion of Prime Bulkhead and Movieverse Hound!
EDIT: Upon closer inspection, the jaw actually doesn't look like Animated Bulkhead's jaw. Sorry.
Separate names with a comma.
