A good representation of a character that isn't 100% accurate to source material is all we should expect from Generations figures. From any incarnation of the franchise. Prime Skyquake and Animated Prowl killed it. Even if sadly I'm going to have to skip Prowl.
I would love to see the Dinobots tackled again, Snarl especially. Animated had a lot of good toys but he's one that a redo could top the original. Fair, for me I think a big pro of this is that it can go next to other designs that Generations has done and it won't look out of place. Also I think the look is cool. Happy to see Animated back I guess. For Prime I meant more so from a look in robot and alt mode looking close to perfect in both modes like Animated Prowl, yet since then none have topped them 100% in that kind of way. That being said I'm not hatting cause I love SS Prime and articulation wise you can do more with him than Leader ROTF Prime. Commander Class Lugnut would be dope. And yeah a Voyager Samurai Prowl would be great and will probably happen.
wow, I did not realize Animated Prowl was wearing CHP khakis I think the one thing that would have made the Legacy version more 'prowl-like' is his head...a slightly more exaggerated elongated face would have made it more on-point
Looks super neat! But, I don't feel the need of owning it when I already have the original, same goes for the Optimus figure, even though I believe it will be as great. I hope they get to do new takes on Animated characters whose figures deserved changes, like Lugnut (great figure, but a way too small).
He's great. I didn't expect a 100% Animated-faithful toy, but one that's clearly "inspired by" the series as this one is. I do wanna see the redecos/retools that come out from him (Armada Sideways, please?)
It's so minor but I wish they were able to keep the gold for his chin, it's minor but it's both accurate and just makes it pop and with it being unpainted it blends in with the head.
Hasbro never makes a mold without planning on milking it with remolds or expansions, and Samurai Armor Prowl was one of the best figures from the ANIMATED line.
Agreed, I definitely think they will do a Samurai Prowl retool at some point, I kinda could see them doing it next year but probably 2025. So far we have listings for a Voyager Animated Prime and if it sticks and hasn’t somehow been made a Leader, I think we can see a Leader Jetwing Prime down the line as well.
I kind of wish they had gone 'Samurai Prowl' w/sidecar that becomes armor-- I mean if you're gonna do Animated Prowl why not go all out-- but this iteration looks really cool and I'm in.
I think Prowl looks amazing. They managed to convert the organic looking Animated design into the current retro-friendly design without sacrificing the core elements. Big win for Hasbro on this one.
Someone needs to take a pic of Legacy Prowl with RotF Lockdown. The latter's gonna be like five times the height of the former, but still the aesthetics gotta match yeah? RtS Lugnut happened at the right timed. A "proper" Animated Lugnut just happened a short while before, the Generations line was its own distinct thing, and and heavy reimaginings were the norm.
I never got into TFA. I have a couple of the figures, but not enough to be able to form an overall opinion of the toyline. What would TFA fans like to see in updated CHUG versions? Edit: the original toy looks like a near-perfect translation of the animation, so it seems like any new figure would be either less accurate or kinda redundant. It’s a strange situation…
A new Lockdown would be pretty baller - the original is a fine enough figure but it's definitely got some flaws (the hands not being able to fully fold out so he's always looking limp-wristed, his head articulation is frankly garbage, and ankle rockers would be a significant improvement). A Voyager Sentinel Prime would also be great. Big, beefy snowplow truck mode, maybe reverse-compatibility with the old Leader Bulkhead Headmaster accessory, and generally a much more up to date range of articulation as the old deluxe is kind of limited. Would double as a great basis for a Dion stand-in depending on how they handle the head. I'd also kill to get some Animated Constructcons, which we never got in the original toyline.
Honestly? MOST of them. All of the Decepticons in particular (though Lugnut and Lockdown were already done in previous lines). Animated Megatron and Starscream were AMAZING. Megatron in particular is one of his best iterations ever
It sounds like it would be a dream come true if they could fill in those blanks with show-accurate versions. Hopefully you guys get some of those.
I'd be pretty rad if they made, like... Legacy Animated Scrapper, Mixmaster and Dirtboss that could combine into a smaller Devastator.
If I were to buy this, he would never be transformed into bike mode. Holy Crow, did Hasbro screw that up.
