Ah that is true, if the repaint comes this year and then I could see him being renamed. Also with the colors on him being labeled as “G2 universe” isn’t the worst thing ever
I guess selling European Japanese G1 Skyquake homage as G2 makes some sense in that the clear yellow windows are a feature of a lot of European G2 toys as well as ones that are technically very late G1. I find it somewhat amusing how unintiionally or intentionally that pink and yellow theme goes nicely with the early Energon toys too. I wonder which Predator plane they will remould Needlnose into ? Well If there was a different deco done of the green Skyquake rather than a single deco part way between the 2 versions of Skyquake then It wouldn't be that different from what happened with Galavatron he got a toy deco release too as well as a cooky clear purple and then a clean deco. It's a shame they don't "slightly repaint" things on reissue of they could just put him in as a leader pack refresh in 2024 with a slightly different deco. I kinda think Beast Wars Dragon Megatron would have been better served by a Cryptech repaint than a straight reissue. heck even G2 Optimus Prime has some minor tweaks to his deco they could have done on that mould (based on some of the Spy Changers) to add interest. As if they did that and made the 2nd release of something a little different then there is more choice. I actually think the Dirge repaint we are getting really might be better of not being the same colour as the previous release even though I get why tey might just repack him. But this is the sort of thing I do consider worthwhile if they are genuinely remaking an additional run and not just packing old stock they had laying around... another example might be Earthrise Wheeljack he has pinkish red wheels if they'd given the rissues yellow or green wheels that might have added some reason to release him again and again like they did. as it really does make it look like they just made to many of them and had to carry them over to get rid of them. (isn't that what value giftsets are for though ?)
I forget if the Predators & Turbomasters were, but I know that was the case with the Obliterators where they had the G2 insignias but still had G1 packaging until they were eventually rereleased in G2 packaging. No it really wouldn't I'm personally leaning towards Snare as he's the only one of the four that's had any sort of exposure via a decently large role in LSOTW, but I've heard people argue for Talon. Whoever it is tho I do wish they could find a way to have the front of the jet form the chest. I primarily brought it up as they released G2 Dragstrip in a capsule line, but they changed his name to Shadowstrip, and I thought that was because G1 Dragstrip was still in markets and they wanted to differentiate them. I could be completely wrong on that though. At the same time I could also see them maybe simply calling him "Predator Skyquake" to differentiate them, tho that could still be too similar if that's an issue.
Is anyone else holding out for this figure to come out as Dreadwing or is that just me? I was never a big fan of Skyquake's colors plus he was only in two episodes and one of those was a zombie so not a whole lot of characterization to latch onto with him.
I think the current size is fine it's just the shoulder pads block them. New cockpit and new shoulders would do a lot for a g1 version
Honestly the old concept art makes Skyquake look like he's meant to be a Dreadwind pretool. Glad they actually listened to feedback and improved the old design so much, the final figure looks pretty good imo. I'll be skipping Skyquake though, I'm waiting for his brother Dreadwing instead.
The year is 2024: Nobody bought Skyquake in anticipation of a superior repaint, so Hasbro cancels all future plans for the mold due to its poor reception and pathetic sales. The hotly-anticipated repaints never arrive.
I love this design so much, it\'s just such a great combination of g1 and tfp. My only really \"complaint\" (and it\'s very very minor) is that I wish his leg fins were a little bigger. Now I can\'t wait for his twin Dreadwing. Y\'all can keep your Machine Wars Starscreams and neon Skyquakes, I\'m only interested in the main tfp Skyquake and tfp Dreadwing.
I'll end up with this mold, but which version, I don't know. This is almost seeker level for redeco potential; there's 5 that they can do from it. I may get one if it goes cheap on Amazon, or just Machine Wars Starscream.
I'm sure there will be a selection of the fandom who will buy this version now. And honestly, I'm not in love with the mold enough that I'd be heartbroken if we didn't get the repaints. There's just too much TFPrime in it for my taste.
I wonder if hasbro knows about how hard it is to attch Needlenose without breaking anything because people who have the figure say it was super tight.
I am rather interested at the hypothetical idea of Skyquake getting a 3rd Party MP style toy. But considering the 3rd Parties won't make Triggerhappy, Misfire, Spinister or a whole lot of other licenses to print money I think it would be a surprising release for someone to do. But then if they see him as a Prime Character then I would also point out we have a bazillion Jazz Masterpieces but not a single Masterpiece Hotshot Hotshot is a character crying out for a sympathetic toy and well he's a main character in a TV show shouldn't that count. But then I did think... "wouldn't N-RID Bumblebee make a heck of a MP toy too". I am sometimes mystified by what does and does not get made. like we still don't have a lot of things you'd think we might like no Official Vintage Camero Bumblebee Masterpiece yet either. It would be proper odd if Rise of the Beasts got one but the normal Vintage Cameros didn't. (I'm saying Vintage as I consider the only "Classic" Camero to the be the 1960's one... and even the Black one they did was a bit well "got at" with all that Carbon Fibre. It was kinda the Classic Car equivellent of a Personal Computer with two much RGB in it.
I quite like the first design (I think all three prime figures last year are great, bar missing paint on Knock Out) but damn I’m glad they listened to lost people’s feedback, it’ll buy a lot of good will and I’m here for it. It’s really nice to know that despite what some people may say, the actual design team really do give a shit. Already preordered and paid for this guy, and I’ll probably get a G1 repaint too (and of course Dreadwing) Now can we get Commander Prime Predaking? And Voyager Breakdown?
Wow. This figure looks a lot better than I expected. Tempted and yet I have no attachment to the figure whatsoever. And this one looks premium to boot
