Except that is how it works a lot of the time sadly. They stopped making leader class decepticons for the movies based on the sales figures of the 2007 figures. And that wasn’t even from completely poor sales, just that the autobots sold more.

My boy Inferno on the box!

If this is any indication of what he'll look like, he looks great! I'm so freaking excited for him.

Also, the nemesis has been on the side of Motormaster's box, and now it's pretty prominently featured in this box. Hmmm...

No offense at all, but I clearly said that I was talking about people that said he was Cartoon G1 accurate or did I not?

and it doesn't bother you at least a tiny bit? that something integral to the portrayal to the character was left out even though it would have been easy to accomplish?

I don’t really get where you’re getting this idea that Metroplex is failing at what he was supposed to be. Looking at the original, he only looks different in being more modern. Considering that half the G1-inspired Titans’ alt modes look like playmobil sets, I just don’t see what’s so bad about this one. The Titans’ main appeal come from accuracy to characters based on toys that didn’t turn into a lot of recognizable things in their day. Metroplex, Fortress Maximus, Trypticon, and Scorponok all turn into “cities” which really don’t look like cities any way you look at them. Trypticon looks cool, but if you asked a kid what it was, I doubt their first guess would be “city.” Omega looks accurate and is pretty cool, but he still looks like a Playmobil set. Scorponok’s scorpion mode looks alright, but it doesn’t look *that* much like a Scorpion. The point is that they’re all modern versions of an older character and try to stay accurate to their past.

I don’t see how Legacy Metroplex is any different. He looks pretty accurate in both modes, and if you asked someone what he turned into, I think the general scoops and treads give enough evidence to say “oh it’s some futuristic/alien construction vehicle. I’m just saying, I don’t see how people are complaining about Cybertron Metroplex not turning into anything when you’ve got Trypticon and Fort Max and G1 Metroplex turning into nothing as well. Metroplex succeeds at being what he’s supposed to be: a modern version of Cybertron Metroplex.

I preordered on Amazon since Metroplex is the only Titan that I am missing. And preordering will get me any discounts along the way.

Uhh no I was talking specifically the people that said he was G1 cartoon accurate. Not other series. Look at the beginning of this thread lol.

Have you seen the pictures of this guy?

    Ab-crunch and ankles.
Hasbro requested it, but Takara said "no". And they only say no if the mold isn't available for whatever reason or it doesn't fit into the budget allocated for that character.

This era of transformers was when I wasn't playing much attention to the franchise, so I can't speak to weather or not this was a big want or not for fans from that time, but it does seem kind of out of nowhere as a $200 toy.

I do have to say...Gotta love that box art though. That's got a real 90's-esque vibe going on.

Biggest of passes here. Has that newer Mmpr, chonky zord look to it, plus no love for the Unicron Trilogy. You win if you love it.

Man Cybertron Metroplex fills up nicely.

This is probably my favorite new Metroplex figure, even if it isn't G1 Metroplex.

Not a plan to get in the future, but one day.

That is the Nemessis. atm we are likely not getting a titan class nemesis. but if we were. i would expect it to be Tarn inspired. because of the decepticon insignia styled face he has to act as a counterpart to the ark, whos head is autobot insignia inspired (the last autobot)

I would like to point out some details you may have missed about Metroplex:
-his work mode sports pegs on the top of his shoulders that look hollow (circled for emphasis), similar to the ones on Bulkhead: metroplex_pegs.png
-the conspicuous slot on the top of the shovel, similar to his original Cybertron toy. Almost perfectly sized for a funny Core Class drill tank to peg onto...
    Drill_Bit_Hole.jpg
-the literal chair? With chair detailing?

These feel like signs that either the planned Drill Bit in that engineering sheet was scrapped at some point, or they're still planning on making him, and just releasing him separately. Only time (and Leakman correspondence) will tell, really.

I do kind of wonder if the reason Hasbro put out Black Zarak earlier this year and is going to put out a redeco of Omega Supreme as an Omega Sentinel towards the end of the year, is to get people's 2022 Titan money via a minor retool (BZ) a redeco (OS) at very low cost to them and let Cybertron Metroplex sell however well he does regardless.

FWIW, Siege Omega Supreme, ER Scorponok and Kingdom Ark all had production runs very tightly bound to demand. There was very little inventory. Omega Supreme was put back into two more production ruins (as online exclusives) after the first. Scorponok had a second run. The Ark only had one run though. That's why it's silly to see people still trying to bargain hunt for Titans. PotP Predaking, released during the death of TRU, had very little shelf presence. The days of $50 TR Fortress Maximus and TR Trypticon clogging discount retailers due to over production are long behind us. Especially in the post-TRU era, Hasbro doesn't produce like that anymore. Your average Target got two cases of ER Scorponok (so 4 total) and that was it for the year. So if you were buying at retail, you had to really be there *that* weekend.

Like, no? Not even in the slightest? Because if I care that much about vintage gimmicks I've always got the vintage toys as an option.

    A few of things here:
    1. "Integral" goes in the same bin as "iconic." It's a meaningless term. Especially when someone earlier was upset about his "iconic red triangle" facing the wrong way.

    2. I don't need new figures to be 1:1 recreations of vintage figures. Do I need to point you towards all of the past iterations of G1/BW characters who lack their original gimmicks? Neither Rattrap nor Terrorsaur have their "integral" one-step spring loaded transformation. Neither Blackarachnia nor Tarantulas have their "iconic" spider-leg missiles or spinner thread accessory. I don't care.

    3. "Easy to accomplish..." is literally the worst term a customer can throw out there. I'm a software developer and whenever a customer suggests something is "easy" to accomplish I cringe. Because they don't know what goes in to the design process. Nor do they understand the barriers beyond even our control.

I'm sorry Metroplex doesn't have his mini-con buddy. But it seems pretty obviosu from the seat in his alt mode and the tabs in his shovel that something is meant to go there. So if the trade off to keep Metroplex from climbing even higher as a Titan figure was to break out his Minicon as its own figure, that's fine with me. I may just buy him like I did the other Titan buddies that have come during WfC. Even the ones I don't have the corresponding City bot for.

If they do a stream to formally introduce and show him off they'll probably reference it. They seem willing to acknowledge future aspects of a character when they have plans for it. Mark was allowed to bring up Menasor when they first revealed Dragstrip and mentioned at least one other future Stunticon by name when showing off Motormaster.

Hasbro did request him to Takara, so presumably they designed Metro with Drill Bit in mind.
