What’s superior in the articulation? This looks like it pretty much copies the original in that aspect.

Looks really good. Hope it uses a different plastic than the WFC stuff did, a lot of that had yellowing issues. Shame about the lack of minicon and cyber key, but that's what upgrade kits are for I guess.

    Oh hey, Inferno\'s confirmed!

Also the Metroplex we knew was coming.  Eh, I\'m gonna pass on this one.  I don\'t feel it for this titan, and I\'m feeling like not having his Minicon or the Axe being able to open up loses some of what made the original cool to me.  At least they tried to do more with the Workbot mode.

I pre-ordered my copy on BigBadToyStore since they don’t charge you for pre-orders so I have time to save up my money that way.

They're saying compared to the Cybertron show and toy, not G1, since that is what this version of Metroplex is from.

Worker mode. He's a builder in the show I think.

Retaining gimmicks doesn't prevent one from introducing new gimmicks. Mini-con ports and blast effect nubs/holes don't detract from the aesthetic of a large figure like this, and their inclusion would increase not only play value, but would give backwards compatibility with a lot of good past figures.

Plus, this implies that Hasbro doesn't want to give us Mini-cons or blast effects in the future. A lot less figures in SS86 and Legacy has them compared to the WFCT in proportion.

In my opinion, it's bad for the whole brand.

Agreed. I mean, it's strange that blast effects aren't going away entirely, and maybe that's a good sign. But then, I wonder why compatibility with them isn't present on other figures. And another strange thing is, cases like Legacy Blitzwing: I understand why his sword isn't blast effects compatible; the slash blast effect nubs don't really look right on just any melee weapon. Siege Prime's axe didn't have any, right? But Blitzwing? His guns are compatible. His hulk hands are. But not his cannon barrel? Seems to me like that would be the thing that gets the most priority for blast effects.

I guess we'll see. Their inclusion with Core Spike is promising, but their presence seems pretty diminished since Earthrise.

Original figure had one, and as a result so did the character in the show.

yeah I’m sure most of us prefer the collector-oriented push mainline figures have taken but it does conflict a bit with the gimmicks of the franchise’s past. It feels like any gimmick type features we see now are only arbitrarily included because they were present in the original figures. I don’t mind the lack of minicon or cyber key for Metroplex but it does highlight how much more collector-focused these expensive toys are as opposed to more kid-friendly features.

I do miss the blast effects, they seem like a simple non-obtrusive feature to make standard. Whatever the clear weapon gimmick of Legacy is supposed to be, it is not very appealing.

GF is my second favorite series after G1. but there's no way I'd want to claim that GF/TF:C has even in the ballpark range of selling power that G1 has.

black zarak may be little known G1 but he's still G1. GF/TF:C metroplex is a little known character from a little known series, and that makes this dude a high risk effort from hasbro even tho he bears a G1 name.

I think he looks cool but yeah I'm just going to be patient. If he's not everyone's cup of tea and gets discounted, I get a character I like at a bargain price. Nothing to lose from waiting.

So he's pretty damn awesome looking, and I bet for as Cybertron fan, it's going to be a dream come true to get a gigantic Metroplex from Gigantron.

I won't be picking him up though. He's the first Titan I'm skipping. The character doesn't mean anything to me. Hasbro got their Titan money from me for 2022 via Black Zarak.

    Still looks great!

I have a feeling G2 Menasor will be sold at the Titan price point. Gotta get a second use from those molds.

Blast effects should 100% be included in every transform, at every scale, from now on. Even if it adds 50 cents to the price. They add so much character.

THAT SAID because of paranoia about their chemical composition from this forum here and that they can melt transformers plastic over time, I leave none attached permanently. I have plastic facsimiles I got on facebook during Siege for that.

Happy for those that want him and for AEC fans.

However it's a pass for me.

The lack of Cyberkey and Drillbit is a bit of a letdown.

like, the key didn't even need to be functional. Just a single piece of plastic with a slot to stick it somewhere would have been perfectly fine, and Drillbit didn't need to be a "mini-con" could have just been a micro-master like the one that came with omega supreme. your telling me they couldn't gang mold a handful of tiny extra parts somewhere on the massive sprues for this figure?

However! The general improvements across the board with the figure in terms of possibility and the new gimmick that Sarkdrinker has (being split in half and attaching to the arms in work "mode") i think make up for those two accessories not being included.

But I do think that it would have been literally no extra effort or cost to have included them anyway though.

Cybertron's intro is still a banger and one of the best themes Transformers ever has had.,

And here it is better than ever:
