I hope they don't drop the whole Titan Masters/Prime Masters. I really loved collecting the little guys and I wish they made a way for bigger figures to interact with them even if they don't connect as heads or such (One of the reasons why Siege Jetfire was so good is because you could use them as pilots).
Yeah I think they're neat, but as I play around with Diaclone Twin twist I'm reminded that these guys are the weakest, most likely to break part of your figure...., So maybe best in supplementary uses....not the head.
I've seen it suggested that they could "reverse" the Pretender concept and give us a larger robot with an open back that a smaller action-figure-like "shell" could fit into. On the one hand, it would give us something more scale-accurate to the way the Pretenders were portrayed in Masterforce, but on the other hand... it might compromise the robot too much and it's just not the same play pattern. So far I think Metalhawk is my favorite Pretender update, and they ignored the shell entirely, so I feel like it shouldn't be my favorite, and yet. He's so well done.
My take on how Pretenders should he done is this. have a Siege Targetmaster like figure that insert into the back, but can also either pilot and attatch to the vehicle mode.
I wonder if that also includes Grand. If they could somehow pull off a Voyager sized figure with a robot mode that looks like Grand's Pretender shell with a Grand Maximus space ship mode looking alt mode, that would make for a fun representation of that character at a smaller scale. They took away the landing gear and gave us a hole. They didn't give us a flight stand, just a hole. I think that's a loss. We were getting more with landing gear.
Didnt say they gave stands, just the port for it plus if you display on said stand you wont need the landing gear.
Yes, please. Grand is an interesting character, but I'm not far along in Masterforce and have only been introduced to him when he came to talk with Hawk about the Godbomber project.
I always wanted them to do something like this customizer’s idea, where you have that Prime Master shell, but the little guy inside is the head of the bigger robot. But I dig Metalhawk. Just give me more updates of pretenders like that and I’m happy.
Not familiar with this character at all, but he looks good. That bright color scheme cries out to be cell-shaded.
Unless you attempt to transform them with hammers, I don't see how an adult collector would manage to break one.
I'm talking about the headmaster neck and leg joints, taking his head in and out of the socket is frightening.
If its the same as the TR ones then they are pretty sturdy lil guys, not had any break or even.feel like they will after multiple removals etc. So as Megatroptimus said unless ya transforming with a hammer ya all good
Missing the forest for the trees here. As a huge spotlight/figure stand stan, this is great news. Being able to display a jet actually flying is more important than rest on the ground. It's why I have so many Gundam stands because they kinda work for Transformers as well as the intended subjects.
Never had any issues, and I pretty much got them all. Never heard of anyone having issues either. Original Headmasters sometimes had broken arms though, but the build was different.
"Being able to display a jet actually flying is more important than rest on the ground" is your subjective opinion. For me to not hold that opinion is not a matter of me "missing" anything. It can be true that including a hole instead of landing gear is cheaping out AND you prefer the hole more. Those aren't mutually exclusive propositions.
That's what I did with Metalhawk and Grand. I had to do the custom job for Grand's shell but it wasn't hard. Just don't squint. But yes, I'd love to see Pretenders released this way. Deluxe Headmasters with Targetmaster Pretender shells would easily fit the $30 voyager price point.
