Evan Brooks on Instagram: "Hi Transformer Fans! Just popping in to do my do-diligence to give you all a few more looks at what we revealed this week! Starting off with our Voyager, Metalhawk! So as mentioned in the stream, this bot is a partial of the Kingdom Cyclonus. It uses the Hands, Shoulders, Biceps, Feet, Back of the legs, Part of the wings and a few of the joints from that figure. You can probably get a better understanding of what pieces are re-used from Ittoku-san's masterful detail drawing. A few other points that I forgot to mention on the stream is that his thrusters use 3mm ports so you can load him up with blast effects. He also has a 3mm hole that becomes accessible in Jet mode for use with a display stand. This is just a fun figure and I'm hoping going forward we can complete the JG1 Pretender teams. Thanks for checking out the stream and supporting Transformers! -Evan #hasbropulse #transformers #autobots #masterforce #transformersstudioseries #transformerslegacy #hasbroemployee #metalhawk"
Whoa. Evan says in his Metalhawk BTS in Instagram: " I'm hoping going forward we can complete the JG1 Pretender teams." Fingers crossed!
Pretenders are meh for the most part but I'm glad they're doing solid updates with them. Thunderwing needs to be a triumph and come with its own greenish Matrix.
So the parts being reused from Cyclonus are the major ones that are known to yellow and now casted in white! Sounds like SG Soundwave situation all over again.
Man what I wouldn't give to see this guy get vac metal look all over the place. White parts chromed, gold parts the look of G1 grimlock's chest.
The figure is pretty good but I still don't understand they did remove the landing gear from Cyclonus ?
The only thing I can think of when I look at this figure is "I want to cut off one of those pairs of vertical stabilizers."
Just because they yellowed on Cyclonus doesn't mean they'll yellow on this one. That's a production issue not a mold issue.
I have never once thought about that with any of my tfs. Looking at masterpiece grim right now, and don't see any of my 5yo kid's grubby little fingerprints, and he definitely had his hands all over it.
Leaving the arms in place is really riding the line of looking weird and looking fine. Also it\'s a touch odd the tail fins are hard molded there. It\'s not wrong, I\'m just used to it being flaps.
I understand that and all I’m saying is that SG Soundwave was basically a repaint/remold of Netflix Soundwave (which yellows) and was casted in white plastic. First people who got their SG Soundwave already showed yellowing out of the box. This situation COULD happen to Metalhawk much like SG Soundwave which I hope not but we’ll have to wait and see. Holiday prime’s trailer and SG Soundwave had some cases of yellowing right out of the box. I think the latest yellowing from Legacy was Jhiaxus’s hips turning greenish? Things do look a lot clearer, but from recent cases the older molds being cast in white plastic seem to be the most concerning.
Thunderwing can be a Leader Class if he's either based on the IDW2 design which has no inner robot or if he's just a hybrid of inner robot and shell like the new Pretenders. He should be Commander if they want him to have an inner robot, I certainly want that to happen too. Commander size works good for an IDW1 Thunderwing too, who was very large in the comic.
