Not on my copy. I had to shave down the ankle hinges to make enough room for the halves to clip together – they were slightly warped and pushed the halves apart, regardless of how the feet were tabbed in.

okay, fine if you say so. I just know that for me this solution worked beautifully and the rear of the car comes together exactly as it should, no modding or other finagling required.

Its just keep seeing it posted as the solution and I feel it's important to point out it's doesn't work for everyone. If it works on your copy, great, but it's not bulletproof.

Ok, bad samples do happen, I get that. Sorry.

But I think my point stands. The toy does work as designed. I’m sorry yours is damaged

Feels like they are testing the water with this gift set. I might be interested in it if it have some premium deco or having a backdrop.

They should have the gift set available on Hasbro Pulse. So much for “where fans come first.”

Hopefully that will happen later down the line.

Not really? They did the exact same thing with Volcanicus.

The difference is that I don’t remember that one was limited.

TTMall did have the EX set that had a premium deco, though. So Volcanicus was available through several different outlets in singles and box sets.

The Stunticons do seem deserving of a more widely available boxed set, I suppose. But anyone who missed out on Motormaster can still buy him on Amazon Japan for $105 shipped, AFAIK. Considering he'd be about that with tax and shipping in America, I think that's reasonable. EDIT: Looks like the dollar weakened against the yen a little so it popped up a bit to $121 shipped. Still, not the worst late tax on Motormaster out there.

The Stunticons are more deserving of a G2-themed boxset with new toy-accurate headsculpts.

That would be slick. But the existence of Shadowstrip has me doubting we will see a boxed set.

Well we can only hope that G2 Stunticons will be spread out in exclusive releases...

I'd hate to end up being the 101st (& onwards).

All I can hope for is more stock in stores of the individual figures. I\'ve never seen a Menasor at retail. I\'ve only ever seen Dragstrip with regularity and had one sighting of Deadend.

If they did a gift set for ROTF Devastator, they can definitely do one for Legacy Menasor. Just makes sense.

Breakdown will be easy to find, being a wave 1 figure similar to Drag Strip. Dead End is going to be the hardest, followed by Motormaster who only ever showed up at Target. I think Motormaster is getting a last refresh with a few online vendors in February, though, so keep an eye out for that.

I doubt Hasbro would do a box set in the west (and they shouldn’t). If they did, it would create the expectation of future box sets, which in turn might dampen sales of individual releases at mass retail, which in turn creates the impression that the figures failed at retail, which in turn convinces Hasbro to stop putting out box sets and other team-oriented figures.

Hardcore collectors are a target audience for Hasbro but we still exist in a market that is not hardcore oriented. If Hasbro can’t sell large numbers of figures at mass retail (and then sell repaints through exclusives), they aren’t interested. A box set could disrupt that.

Besides, we know that Hasbro is sorta ambivalent about putting out box sets anyway. If they do it, it’s usually around two figures and retails for $40-$60. A combiner box set would sit around $190. It’s just a much riskier proposal.

This Chinese set seems like it’s a fun one-off that simply uses extra inventory.

While I think it would be more prudent of Hasbro to simply reissue the Stunticons as singles, there are collectors out there who aren't completing their sets thanks to retail distribution. The choice then would be to do single reissues - but those would end up being spaced out throughout the line over the next two years. They could do an exclusive group wave - but then they'd might as well just release a boxed set to guarantee all the produced toys would get sold.

Another option is to do a G2 boxed set. But the last time they did that, all the sets went on clearance so retailers are probably still bruised over that one.

Was Motormaster actually hard to find? I know he was spotty at retail but wasn't he available pretty well online? I remember actually cancelling my Pulse PO because a local got one for me early.
