Yeah there is, a simple deco swap like Breakdown is lazy especially when it could've done more

They were unwilling to expend energy looking into better suited molds or change the mold more, and the definition of lazy is the unwillingness to expend energy

Yeah absolutely agreed, the entire two pack could've done more

I was impressed by the Insecticons two-pack but the Bulkhead and Windsweeper two pack just feels like wave padding

It was almost certainly because they weren't given enough budget for sufficient remolding rather than because they just didn't feel like it, but yeah, I agree it's definitely lazy, just on the part of whoever decides the budgeting rather than the designers.

@Relic Hunter The multiquote tool is your friend. Also, ROTF Alice is just straight up disgusting. Highlighting the tongue whip just further proves that point.

Breakdown was completely out of left field, but honestly, don’t find him too bad. Slightly disappointing, but he wears the mold well. I don’t know, I guess I’m not torn up about him because I got the original figure’s reissue a while back? Gonna have to get him if I’m getting Windsweeper, but it’s not like I’m getting a slight redeco of a figure I already have.

Windsweeper… yeah, pretty much what I expected! Not bad, mind you, he wears the mold well, and the Needlenose mold is really good. Also, new Targetmaster characters, cool.

Chop Shop does not disappoint, but I’m shocked at the retooling they did with him. Just thought they’d do a new head and that’d be it, and I’d have been satisfied. But full-on extra parts? Nice.

Barrage genuinely shocked me; like Chop Shop, I’d thought they’d make a low effort retool and call it a day. But the fact they managed to retain his robot mode chest, and in a pretty clever way too, makes me like him all the more. Gotta dig my Ransack out of storage for when I eventually get these two and 2025’s Venom…

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't it known that for something like the Wreck-N-Rule and this upcoming Doom and Destruction set the budget tends to go "enough for a couple of retools, but you'll need to have several repaints too"? That was the logic behind package refreshes in various waves as well, wasn't it?

If that's the case, I'm quite happy with Windsweeper and Prime Breakdown simply being new head retools while the Deluxe Insecticons get more retooling. Like, when's the last time Barrage actually had a toy?

Unless you count Insecticon from Energon as a homage, literally G1

I can't believe they put Barrage and Chop Shop in same package. They should have been split and packaged with either Breakdown or Windsweeper so we could maximize the size of our collections and get access to figures G1 fans normally wouldn't get to sample. /s

Kinda weird that you're not counting any figure smaller than a Core there. I sense bias.

"unwilling to look into better suited molds"

look, those breakdown parts were on bulkhead's tooling to begin with, they were already extra energy spent on a toy from the very beginning

(the hammer is the same plastic as the head, so that head already existed as of two years ago)

so like i guess they could've looked into a "better suited mold" than the toy that already has a breakdown head and a breakdown hammer, but i bet it didn't exist

mark in 2022 when he unveiled the breakdown hammer for the wreckers capsule:

On the other hand, Barrage had more work put into him than Breakdown but I know which of the two I find most aesthetically pleasing.

People keep talking about Windsweeper, but it is obviously Water walk.
