"I’ve been seeing alot of posts enjoying the new Legacy Deluxe Knockout figure, so its his time to shine!

@marcelomatere worked with John Warden on the initial prime character concepts and I really loved his awesome style jammed into this upfront artwork. Please be sure to check out his work as he is an absolute TF beast, and better yet, a fantastic dude!

After he was kicked on over to Takara Tomy, Yuya san, I believe, did the car concept artwork, looks like his hand style, which is of course, nasty nice!

I worked with Yuki san on the figure after the concept phase and he actually suggested making this guy a partial off of the Studio Series Jazz mold since the robot designs were so much alike. I was simply like…Yuki san, u r a genius!

You can then see me adding some 90’s flare to his alt mode and really concentrating on getting a decent head design. Note to self, sculpt lines get sculpted a whole lot deeper on the face then ever intended! ‍♂️

You can also see a concept energon weapon that was initially drawn up by @santalux75 , another amazing artist you should check out! I did an overlay drawing of what came back from the block model 3d render to try and make it a cooler weapon then just a cattleprod!

My favorite…deco time! Obviously the mustard gold rims were a must, but I concepted out a bunch of different custom styled graphics for the side of the whip. I ended up with somthing closer to his show apperance but dialed it back to something I’d see when I desperately wanted a dope car as a kid growing up in the 90’s!

I hope you pick up this sultry crimson baddie and enjoy replaying lines from the Prime series over in your head, or even outloud, why not, have fun!

Damn shame that many folks don't like him, but I get it.

 

Hmmm... Interesting. The initial design is the same alt mode as Nightbeat & Minerva.
Kinda wish they had gone for it instead. And kinda hope they may be planning a new Nightbeat (tho I doubt it).

 

God damn it, this looks so much better.
We could have gotten this instead.

And not only that he could have been a Toy-Jazz repaint.

Huh, I actually think he turned out a lot better in robot mode (both just overall and as a Knockout figure) as a Jazz remold than that original art looked. I don't think the door wings really suit him and the tires on his shoulders make him look way more aggressive and muscular than a pretty boy like him should.

I will admit I actually really prefer the Porsche car mode to what we got though. Not that his alt mode didn't turn out great, but the Porsche looks even better and still feels in-character for him. The stripes on the sides would feel more at home on a Porsche too than on an Aston Martin. I really hope we get a Legacy Nightbeat soon with that as his alt mode.

 

I was thinking the same. I know some would hate that over what we got (the alt mode I like better on the final release over the initial alt mode). but I think it would he cool to get a KO with door wings. Also agreed, I would have loved that.

Also even with the Jazz we got I hope we get a repaint with more racing stripes.

 

I think I liked the original head concept better. The one we ended up with is a little weird imo.

 

Agreed, while I think the door wings are neat (which means Jazz originally had them) the finished design looks better as KO as is.

I like the second and the third concept art of the alt mode better than the initial alt mode. Just doesn't scream KO to me.

It's nice but IDK something about the final one just looks better to me. The chin looks weird to me also.

 

The one with the tires on the shoulders looks even bulkier than the final release and so totally off for a character like Knockout.

People are just reaching now.

 

I wonder if reshelling jazz into him helped with the budget that went into Cosmos and Override...

 

I highly doubt it since KO is a part of Legacy and those are a part of Velocitron.

 

Nightbeat was in one of the leaks (along with Hosehead) that allegedly got pushed back...If the Hot Shot for 2023 is the Energon one (without the combining gimmick) I'd bet that it ends up as Nightbeat.

 

Odd that being a partial of Jazz is described as a whim of Yuki san rather than a known budgetary requirement going into things.

 

So for all of the people who hate on KO here for being a Jazz partial… blame TT!

I for one like him and can’t wait to give my Decepticons a medic. Maybe if they do a new Ravage toy aka Rumble, we’ll get Glit…

 

That Porsche Knockout Concept Art is so good. like holy crap that is incredible. I am now sad we won't get that.

 

The one real gripe I have before having this in hand is the expressionless face compared to having a smirk to really make the character of the figure work for me. Just gives him real genericon vibes for a character thats primary touchstone is being flashy

 

That'd be neat, I'd really like Hot Shot's Energon design if they gave it better proportions, proper shoulders, and a less doofy-looking headsculpt. It'd work well for Nightbeat too, as shown by the Botcon toy he got years ago (with a reshelled car mode of course, and the overall shapes of the car modes are close enough that it should work).

 

Still the elephant in the room to consider, the translucent plastic roof that breaks down.

 

It would have been nice if they could have found a way to put the tires on the back but I like the final product I guess
