I hear ya.
The “butt” is the biggest waste of time and effort on this figure. The whole point of the character, IMO, is the rockets in the butt.
But there are no rockets... but has a spinning rear... with different size petals. It’s painfully asymmetrical, and not even worth spinning.

Never mind the ant legs getting in the way in bot mode.

Again, the figure won me over with its personality but if they couldn’t achieve such a signature aspect of the character then why bother?

Well, I guess I answered my own question. I still bought it, didn’t I?

 

Anyone feel the hinges that the ant head halves are attached to feel awfully thin and fragile? I was sweating because it didnt feel right when opening them up first time (why is there ridges in the hinges to simulation ratchet when those parts dont need to stay open??)

 

Yes, maybe they tried to reinforce the joint?

 

Love this thing. I’m so glad they made the ant legs rigid so it can stand decently in beast mode.

 

I don't think the black legs on BA were a budget/cost cutting move. I think it was done purposely to make the spider mode more accurate. A black widow with brown legs is just weird.

Now onto what this thread is about. Inferno looks phenomenal. Not sure I understand all of the complaints. The complaints seem pretty empty.

 

got Inferno from Santa for Xmas and he is fantastic, love the jaw articulation and gun storage - he’s simple but very effective and feels Beast Wars

 

So the other day, I see Swindle opening a pop-up shop and I tell myself, to serve my queen, maybe a bigger gun would be good, so I go in and check his stock.
I see this beauty and I just had to have it!
This thing has such firepower that my queen would be impressed, of that I was sure.

But then what to do with my old gun, so I asked Swindle if he'd buy it from me and he took a look at it and told me that it was too below his standards and wasn't interested at all, so I asked him, well, what could I do with it then?

He told me to shove it up my @@@

 

So I ended up getting the adapter so that his thruster can store in the ass compartment, The result is somewhat mixed but if the transformation works pretty well albeit he now has a bit more of a leg undercarriage. Overall I think I will keep it

 

This entire figure is phenomenal. The color, the sculpting detail, the metallic and gradient paint, the posability. It's just a gorgeous and fun to play with figure. Whoever designed this really put some love into it.

It needs to be in the top 3 figures of 2022 for sure.

I haven't even gotten to the headsculpt yet. It is one of the absolute best transformers headsculpts of all time. Somehow it's both scary and cute at the same time. It reminds me of an evil psychotic Muppet. The opening and closing mouth is a phenomenal added touch.

I will say this. His gun is cool but it's a little lacking. The head of the gun reminds me of one of those old 1980's bubble pipes:

 

Is that the flamethrower from Shapeways? That looks great!

I just got this and Tarantulas, and I love the figure. Opening mouth is just icing on the cake.
The only issue is that they used his butt thruster as a handgun, and skipped his flamethrower(s).
But the Shapeways version will look great on him. Especially with two of them!

Anybody know if there's any suggestion of "Protoform X" aka Rampage being in the pipeline?
I still have the original toy, which looks awesome. But seeing how Hasbro is treating these Legacy figures, a new Rampage would be fantastic.

 

I don't remember who made it, it was on TF Safari and it comes with a purple butt thruster plug-in, and two drill bits that fit over the hands

It was on eBay for about 10 bucks, I ended up combining it with another 3D printed package I got from TF Safari and it works pretty well, I'll post pictures later today

I think it works okay, it doesn't look as good from the side but you do get to store weapons which I always prefer

I learned the hard way that Inferno has an issue with his ankle tilts, and stress marks. Allegedly using them (if they happened to be quite tight) would cause small stress lines to form around the joint. And today I found out that it’s false. BECAUSE THEY CAN JUST COME STRESSED OUT OF THE PACKAGE…

 

Upon actually moving the joints, the marks don’t seem to get any worse. So I guess it’s just some weird factory mishaps…
