This is what we should've had in the first place: correct shoulders and no nonsensical battle damage. This is just a mini-review that goes over differences between the Legacy and Kingdom versions of Galvatron. The main obvious difference is that all the "battle damage" has been removed. Granted, the way it was done on the Kingdom version didn't make a whole lot of sense, and sometimes, less is more. The "battle damage" marks have been removed the cannon, forearms, chest, and lower legs. The bare plastic and paint colors are otherwise the same. I have noticed that various joints are indeed tighter, including the hips and skirt flaps. This was a pleasant change to find. ...and that's it. The accessories are the same, so didn't include pics of those. Is this worth $50 to double dip again? Probably not, unless your Kingdom version had various QC issues and/or the incorrectly assembled shoulders...and you really, really like Galvatron. Legacy on left, Kingdom on right: Not sure if this is the start of a trend for Hasbro to re-release figures again with slight changes. It's one thing if it's on a cheap figure, but this is a $50 Leader Class figure. That's a bit steep.
In a nutshell, had I not bought KG Galvs already, I simply wouldn't now. I bet we'll see some figure swaps in the wild due to those changes, and while I wouldn't revert to such criminal behavior, as a great comic once said..."I understand".
This is a tough one for me. I adore the mold, but spent a good bit of time removing the battle damage on the body, adding articulated hands, modding the shoulders and adding screw covers of the Kingdom one. The Selects one is my go-to now, but I still very much like the purple version. What's making me consider this one is that the gun doesn't have paint on it, and I generally don't like stripping clear plastic, so didn't do that to the Kingdom one. Now, is it worth it for the gun? ... ... Yeah, I'll probably get it.
I honestly believe 100% this will be a thing. Given there is no window on the box to show the figure, it'll make these swaps way easier...not something I'm looking forward to dealing with in the future. I get Hasbro's whole attempt on reducing plastic on packaging, but...yeah. Anyway, I picked one of these up because I had the reversed shoulders Kingdom one, and I'm satisfied now. My Kingom Galvy now sits next to my computer desk to fiddle around with from time to time.
Considering it took less than five minutes to remove the battle damage paint on the Kingdom release this is beyond redundant IMO, but a good way for people to get a fixed shoulders version at the very least.
It may be your lighting, but the cannon on the Kingdom version looks a bit brighter. Can you confirm if that's the case or not?
Less paint more money. Anyway, I get that many prefer this but looking at both I kinda like the Kingdom version better. Weird, I know. I like the idea of Crazy Galvatron having a little wear and tear.
I picked him up today. Im happy... Very Happy. Legacy will go with Rodimus and SS86 stuff, Kingdom will go with the Legacy Prime and stuff (I like the battle Damage as Today's war torn mad Tyrant, and Selects... Sits on SS86 Starscream's throne where he Belongs.
Beung that I had already double-dipped for the fixed shoulders, I wont be getting this. I always looked at his Battle damage as residue from his plasma bath. That's enough for me.
I was hoping to see maybe a more bluish and less reddish shade of purple. I guess I'm okay with my Kingdom version for now. Appreciate the side by side photos!
I didn’t mind the battle damage on Kingdom Galvy even if it did look a bit like bird poop Now I wouldn’t mind Rumble getting a repaint like that!
I was messing with legacy this morning. I noticed a mold issue that looks like Molded battle Damage... I was not happy. The QC is out of control. I had a 3 kingdom Galvatrons. I popped off the chest plate of my worst one, cleaned it up, and swapped it out with legacy. I shouldn't have todo this. A 60$ figure should be pristine. His joints are good and stiff. Now he is perfect. Like others have said... If you have a Good copy of Kingdom your good. If you want a clean version without any work Buy him. Good Luck.
Yeah, if you have the kingdom version, it would be cheaper to buy a $2 bottle of rubbing alcohol and some qtips
Clear plastic since Siege has the very real risk of crumbling / breaking when exposed to IPA. Also, $50 at Target.
Legacy Galvatron does have One difference... That I could find. His eyes. If you try to swap kingdom and legacy face plate you will notice they are not the same. Legacy has Bigger eyes. They are also closer to the front. I have their heads swapped in their Pic... I like The squinting eyes on Legacy (fits with the end of the 86 movie).
Picked up a legacy galvatron yesterday, and there's one thing that I noticed immediately versus the Kingdom release - a lot of the joints and tabs are quite a bit tighter. I went through 3 copies of the Kingdom release looking for good QC, and the Legacy version is quite a bit tighter toleranced than any of the Kingdom versions I messed with. The one exception are those famous tiny tabs that lock in the arms to the bottom of the cannon mode. Those seem to be unchanged. Anyone else experience this?
