More fun than Tarn, most of his bells and whistles on the vintage toy is replicated, sans the fact that you have to flip them out manually. Lion head is ass and the sides of the mane not being able to open out is a bit lame. I can definitely see a kit replacing the entire head.

lion forearns hang out far worse than the vintage toy, but I’m in a loss for words for any fixes. It’s not that bad in hand but it’s still… a bit messy.

No wrists though due to transformation but not the end of the world.

I still can't believe we're getting a legit Leo Prime in the main line. He looks great! Better than the MP (to my eyes). Can't wait to add him to the collection. Any danger of paint chipping during transformation?

No wrists on a voyager that’s not a decepticon/predacon? Ehh not feeling that.

Are the upper parts(where they connect to the body) of the front legs articulated?

There's a joint, but that's mostly for robot mode positioning. They tab in for lion mode. You can fake some extra poses with the forelimbs untabbed, but it's probably not meant to be weight bearing, doesn't fully follow the lion's anatomy, and uncovers more robot bits on the inside.

I literally have no connection to this character but want it just because it legit seems like a cool ass toy.

It looks like the wrists are ball jointed though? You can see the socket cut out and it even looks like the wrist is slightly angled in one of the pictures. Maybe the socket is just really tight?
EDIT - NVM I can see from other pics the hand slots in on a weird hinge. That sucks.

This guy looks alright. I've always liked the idea of Lio Convoy better than the execution, and this doesn't really look like its improved on the execution. IMO the original was hampered by the fact that its gimmicks were kinda lame. The massive lion paw swords held tonfa-style are awkward and impractical, and the lion-mane-cannons on the wrists always looked out of place. Its commendable that the figure recreated these gimmicks, but they're were kinda lame gimmicks in the first place.

I would've much preferred they took this opportunity to clean up the bot mode. Remove the wrist-cannons and claw gimmick so the lion fore legs can collapse onto the robot forearms. Remove the head cannons to allow more room for splitting the mane into multiple hinged panels that allow the lion head to form a more natural looking pauldron while leaving room for arm articulation.

However, this looks good for what its trying to do, I just dont love what its trying to do. Also the lion head is still a travesty, but I think some paint could fix it.

Lio Convoy is, hands down, my favorite mainline Voyager Class figure in a long, long time. He's just so much more substantial and more fun than most other Voyager Class figures. From the absolutely striking color scheme and the abundance of gimmicks to the brilliant transformation scheme that compresses a beefy bot mode down into a sleek and almost kibble-free lion mode, this guy really is the complete package. I just love how his entire bot-mode chest comes together far more cohesively and, dare I say, elegantly than the Masterpiece figure. Lion head could use a bit more paint, but in person, it's nowhere near as washed-out and derpy looking as in most photos. If you're a fan of the character or design, this is a 10/10 figure in my book.

How easy is it to just nip off the tooth, and how does he looks like without it?

Should be a relatively easy procedure. This is just a digibash but it should give you an idea of what he looks like without those odd fangs.

It's been a while since I've been this hyped for a figure. He looks both cartoon accurate and just plain fun. I only wish his guns were on the dark gray sprue so they didn't blend into his mane and arm kibble as much.

I wish the lion head was just a bit more… dynamic. It’s not a bad sculpt once you remove the fangs but it’s so docile and rigid. If it was sculpted with a slight bow and upturned nose it would seem a lot more alive than the almost statue-esque pose they chose. A minor complaint really.

Probably my most anticipated mainline toy. The robot mode is just amazing.

I just can't get past the lion head looking like a basset hound... It seem's like such a bizarre place to whiff on.

I'm waiting to see the rumored Nemesis Lio Convoy or whatever it was called before I decide which version of the mold to get
