Prowl looks pretty meh IMO but I'm definitely getting something that will be redecoed or retool from him.
Maybe, if they did Action Master Rad or G1 Override from him I'd buy them.

I actually can't believe how good this looks. It's the first Legacy deluxe figure I've actually been excited for, and definitely has me excited for the possibility of other Animated characters in the line

I like that they are doing Animated but I ain't a fan of how this figure turned out. Other than fitting in CHUG there is absolutely nothing this figure has going for it over the original in any aspect. You'd that would be the case with an update to a 14 year old figure. Ah well, hope it does well so we can see more and hopefully better upgrades to characters like Lugnut, who actually need it.

Great review, Prowl looks great and fun. He was one of the first few Animated figures I got back in the day and I still have him and got Samurai Prowl a couple of years ago. So I can't wait for a modern Legacy take on the design and to have it with the other generations figures.

I wonder what he'll be retooled/repainted into, I'd love to see a Legacy Samurai Prowl too.

@Lazerwave Thank you for such a thought-through and informative review. You've sold me on a figure I was feeling 'meh' about from initial photos. In no small part because they did the Prime characters dirty. But Prowl looks much better in hand, and seeing him retain the original's posability with some obvious upgrades is pure joy. Yes, I think I'll have to add him to the shelf. He's doing what the line was meant to do.

Man, he looks so good. Thanks for the review! Definitely won't be passing on this one, and I hope they make more Animated Legacy figures.

I could be wrong about the whole Magnet thing.

But to point out, both stars are different.

So in case you intend to buy it, just make sure you don't end up with a duplicate.

I'll definitely pick this guy up, along with the other Animated Legacy figures... But is it just me or are his thighs a little too thick?? His head and blocky visor doesn't bother even me as much as this.
Maybe I'm just so used to his animated proportions, but it seems like his thighs should be around the same thickness as his lower legs, to invoke Animated Prowl's slimmer profile.

For me this figure hits all the right ways of doing any kind of animated-to-G1 style conversion. Anything else would have been too stylized or exaggerated to really work.

Now, if they had made this iteration of the character for Earthspark, i could see them being able to do a more Animated-esque character model. But given that this is Legacy, another incarnation of CHUG, well... what did you really expect?

For what it is, I think it's great.

Definitely not worth the extra money to get early. Even at retail I'll pass, the original is superior in every way.

Did the first release of Animated Prowl stand as poorly as the Samurai one did? That was the only version I had. Seriously I get that folks have a severe fixation on how figures have gotten smaller over the years but the Animated Prowl mold had its fair share of aspects that didn't age super well. The armor itself is clunky and barely stayed on, as impressive as it was that they got it to work at all at the time.

I'll second if someone has a Legacy Prowl and Arcee (or Flamewar or Road Rocket) and is able to snap a shot there I'd love to see it.

I think the body works well enough but I just can’t get into the headsculpt. It looks awkward and doesn’t capture the character for me.
