Have you BEEN to the Radicons forums? Like, ever? I'd say the opposite is more likely true.

I don't think the existence of a customization forum, or even a busy one, means that 51% or more of Transformers fans enjoy modifying their toys.

Right? Like, we all know this forum isn't reflective of the general toy buying audience. So why would we assume a subforum within this community is?

Claiming Radicons being popular means the majority of Transformers buyers enjoy customizing figures is like claiming the existence of FanFiction.net means a majority of Harry Potter fans fantasize about him and Draco smooching.

Even if I see the need and make the effort to modify a toy, it doesn't mean I enjoy doing it. Always worried that I'm going to screw something up and make it worse.

As much as I love the Thrilling 30 release this will look much better next to Road Rage.

Now how about a Gen Selects Reboost hmm?

I still have a completely unpainted Botcon CW Ratchet simply because I don't have the skills to make it look good

I have very limited skills when it comes to customizing, and I just stick to chroming wheels for the most part.

painting the entire wheels on Crosscut, in two tones if you want rims, plus even maybe the fixed faux-wheels at the front seems like a huge hassle to me, when all you need to do is get spare parts from Crankcase or Burn Out.

But we shouldn’t even have to do this, not at the price we’re paying these days.

Given that this is at least the fourth use of this mold, I don't think that's at all unlikely. Crosscut was never considered when the mold was made, or if it was, it was considered a low priority.

Honestly, I wish people could just be glad that we're getting this character at all. You don't have to buy it if the red wheels bother you that much. We even have other alternatives for Crosscut these days.

what? Hell no. HasTak should be called out each and every single time they pull shit like this. If everyone “is glad” to be sold these shit sandwiches, pretty soon that’s all we’re going to get. Some may say we’re already there. I disagree, but sometimes they have good points.

But it’s not a “shit sandwich,” it’s just red wheels. What I think some folks are trying to say is, “no need to hyperventilate, skip it if it’s such a huge dealbreaker for you.”

Saying that this is a “shit sandwich” implies that Hasbro DGAF anymore. But is that the case? Look at the great recent repaints we’ve gotten like Galaxy Shuttle or new molds like Cosmos, Override and Skyquake. There’s plenty of great, new stuff coming out.

This might have been a swing and a miss for some folks but let’s get a grip. It’s still a lot better (imo) than the RiD/AEC era where we got a ton of ugly, poorly thought cash grab repaints. It’s better than Combiner Wars too (imo).

I hate it when people say “If we deal with THIS shit then all we’re going to get will be shit!!” when that just isn’t true. Plus, I don’t think red wheels is equal to the worst thing to ever happen to transformers, and if you do, I am so sorry

I repeat that this is the fourth use of the mold. If this one's not great, I don't think that makes it fair to say they're "pulling" something, especially if you liked the other three. Consider this one an "extra" you can buy... or not buy... as you see fit.

(No doubt it was easier in the Diaclone days, when tires couldn't be gang-molded, simply because they were made of rubber. I imagine most folks would prefer the rubber wheels in the first place, but would so many be willing to pay the extra costs, given the complaints we're already seeing about price these days?)

I think some people are also just unable to recognize that some people like the things they dislike or at least don’t really care. Like for me… red wheels are kinda cool. If I got this I wouldn’t be dealing with anything lol.

well, it’s not like Hasbro’s charging us less for this third rendition of the skids mold. Why settle for mediocrity?

I wouldn’t say they have him as low priority. Crosscut is easily the second most recognizable user of skids’ mold. He’s released later because the exclusive line came out ahead of his wave. The reason it seems like hasbro didn’t have him in mind rather than burnout, is that burnout shares the same color placement as skids so all they need to do is swap out blue plastic for black. Don’t forget, burnout didn’t even get her own head, she got crosscut’s. If they didn’t think about doing crosscut it would be the other way around.

It is not that hasbro messed up crosscut’s color placements because he is of low priority, it is just that they usually design the sprues with only ONE figure’s colors in mind. Other releases almost always have some compromised plastic colors either painted over or left there, and it’s never too big of an issue. Crosscut just happened to be very unlucky that, it has different color layout as skids, and all his paint budget has to go towards silver paint and they chose the fist instead of his wheels to be molded in accurate colors, and people usually notice that miscoloration much more than, say, red alert’s arms and legs being in the same color. It can happen to anybody, high priority or not.

Honestly, I don't care about being "right" about what place Crosscut sits on the "priority" chart. When you agree with me that the mold wasn't designed with Crosscut (specifically) in mind, you make the same point I'm trying to make, with the possible caveat that we nonetheless got THREE other versions of this mold for which this layout worked perfectly fine. I'm fine this one having the odd red wheels, if it means he otherwise looks like the character he's supposed to.

    And he does.
