Fresh from the box, my copy of the figure is absolute trash. Shoulder transformation joints have no friction. Hips are loose. Thigh swivels push themselves apart when rotated. Wing hinges have no friction. Front and back pegs to hold robot mode torso don’t stay pegged in.

Worst experience with a transformer ever.

disassembled him, which was a nightmare with all the pins, and I’m taking my time to tighten every problem joint and peg on this thing.

I regret the purchase entirely. I’m just trying to salvage the thing at this point. The original was far better than this thing.

Mine was still pretty bad even after trying to fix all of the problems so I called it a bust and sent it back to Amazon. I can see the good figure in there, and I’m glad some people are getting good copies but hoo boy mine was the biggest turd I’ve gotten in quite a while.

If I can’t get this thing working I’m not going to even try and get a replacement. Odds aren’t in favor of getting a good one.

Japanese release for Armada Starscream is the end of February. Due to a lot of negative feedback, I think I will skip this version. I hope future repaint Starscream Super Mode (Thundercracker) will fix some the issues.

After the brand unification, I really miss the old Takara Japan domestic TF releases with better quality and paints:(

Why not just return it and call it a day? It it really worth keeping just to have if it's going to require work?

Because I want to see if I can salvage it, since it’s already here in my hands. Like, why not try?

Good point. Sometimes the act of fixing a figure makes the trouble worth it.

Why did this even bother to have a waste joint? I'm thoroughly confused by most of the choices made

Picked up this fella last week. I've only had a little bit of time to fiddle with him since then, but so far I'm enjoying him. He's got a really dynamic look about him, and the articulation gives him plenty of posing options. Maybe I lucked out on the QC end, but mine holds together well enough. He's a little loose around the hips, but not like, detrimentally so. It can be a little frustrating when getting him posed, but he will hold a pose

I'd no real gripes with the paint but having seen a couple of customs I think the extra white on the lower legs and collar really complete the look of the design. To the point that it seems almost a shame that those details weren't included on the final release. I'm rarely one to be bothered by the amount of paint on a figure, but this is one where I'd have loved to see a few extra applications added in

Other than that, the only thing that bothers me is the size of the weapons. The wing sword is fine, though could also do with being bigger, but the Star Saber is pretty pitiful. I've since tossed it in a box of spare parts and accessories

Overall though, I really like this guy. Dunno if I'd pick up any repaints, but I'm glad I got this one

I really hate how far back the neck joint is on this guy's head. I feel like if it was centered, even with the intakes down, he could get some decent left-right movement. As it is the head just collides into the intakes at anything other than a slight tilt, and the indescribable mushy feeling of the ball joint means it usually moves itself back to facing forward anyhow. It also means looking up looks weird, though the downward tilt helps a lot in activating the "glare" of his helmet shape above the eyes.

As it is, if you want his intakes forward like normal (because flipped up they still look terrible IMO) he basically has the functional head articulation of the original. :lol

So I fiddled with mine for about an hour this morning trying to modify some of the joints, thicken some tabs and notches and I think the plastic quality just isn't there, maybe it's because I just didn't like the figure design or character enough to keep trying but this one I decided to waive the white flag and take it back to the store. Just a mess and a failure

Same exact experience I had. I’ve fixed and modded dozens of figures and for some reason this one was simply resistant to being fixed. I doubt I’ll roll the dice in a second one.

I hate to pile on this toy but yeah, even after painting it to be show/toy-accurate, when I pick this guy up and the arms jiggle, or the legs sag, or I can't pose his head at all with the intakes down, he just goes back to the shelf. It's such a turn-off to pick up a toy you want to like and it just feels wrong.

It's such a bummer reading that so many of you got lemons. Mine was a good copy. I mean, I can still tell that it's built as cheaply as humanly possible, but mine works and holds up fine.

But when you have a working copy of this figure, if you have love for Armada in the first place, this Starscream will put a smile on your face.

Armada has needed updates for a while now, and this is the best one so far. It's a huge shame that they built it so poorly, because the design is great.

Mine had issues with being a bit loose, but a quick treatment with kiki fix it made this figure amazing - while we shouldn't need to do this stuff out of box, it really allows you to enjoy the figure.

I’ve managed to tighten everything except for the transformation hinge on his left shoulder. Nothing works at all. Zero friction when in robot mode. Just swings around wildly with zero resistance.

    Fucking garbage.

    Same.

Literally the only tight tabs on mine are those that lock the backplate in with the cannons folded up in robot mode.

The thing fucking sags when you pick it up in jet mode because the back of the pelvis doesn't tab into the underside of the fuselage, and the cockpit/nose is droopy.
