Commander Armada Prime definitely is the best Commander so far, for me.
He takes first place while Jetfire takes second place and Sky Lynx third for now.

...I happened by this toy factory where this shady guy offered me this thing called "Optimus Prime". Who was I to say no?

 

...provided for free by Hasbro, and as a bonus you get to listen to a guy whose voice sounds like grease poured over gravel for an hour!

 

The hype for Legacy Armada Prime has made me dig out my brother’s OG Armada Prime from the toybox grave, and man what a blast from the past this guy is. Yeah he’s missing 80% of his parts but he still holds a special place in my heart for nostalgic reasons. I’m hoping to buy all the missing parts for him eventually as well as paint the chipped areas on his body because he’s got a lot of paint chipping.

Now bring on Legacy Armada Optimus Prime

I don't have a printer.  So all those free mods and upgrade kits mean absolutely dick for me.  

 

As I mentioned earlier in the thread, there was a trend when Armada was the current line to cut up reusable plastic straws and glue them to figures people wanted to be Minicon compatible, because those were frequently 5mm.

That might be worth investigating again.

 

Man, seeing this guy over and over for me ambitious enough to order a junker Optimus to replace the broken golden arm on my original Armada toy. Then I unfortunately realized I apparently ordered a junker years ago and forgot about it. Long story short, an hour of hitting the pins with a soldering iron to remove the rivets and pins, and I finally have a complete, minty fresh, functioning Optimus Prime for the first time since I opened my original in 2002. Simultaneously gushing with nostalgia and getting so frustrated with its limitations that I’m getting more pumped for the Commander. Will have to figure out what to do with the spare junker later  

Edit: Aaaaand as if I were tempting fate, the OTHER arm broke this morning as I was transforming the figure to put it away. So I need to do even more repairs... but at least the junker wasn't a waste of money? Either way... it just got me more pumped for the Legacy version, assuming that one won't crumble in my hands.

If only I knew as a kid that it was that simple. My naïve brain thought “oh man this port on RID Optimus’s shoulder looks kinda like a minicon port and just plopped Grindor on there… Grindor eventually came off, but the center part of his connector was stuck in Prime’s shoulder.

Honestly, lack of Minicon pegs is the worst thing about this figure, and I’m grateful that’s all I have to complain about.
