Hey guys I need some help with an LED mod.. Im working on a Super Nintendo Soundwave System.. Not a transforming Nintendo or anything , its just going to be a SNES with a custom paint job to match Soundwave.. One thing I want to do is add LEDs to the console so when it is powered up it will light the LEDs.. I want to add around 6 or 8 of them around the base of the unit so it will glow blue and I want to add 2 or 4 of them around the inside of the game slot where the game goes in so blue light will come from inside and glow around the game.. I need help figuring out how to wire these up.. I know each LED need a resistor wired to it and I need to find posts on the underside of the mother board that provides power , I think its 9 or 10 volts.. I bought a analog multimeter but have no idea how to use it on this lol. Is there anyone that can help me out figuring all this out ? Any help will be great .. Thanks in advance -Curt
This should help: LED series parallel array wizard A big issue will be if you're going to wire them in series or in parallel. That will greatly affect what resistors are needed. But that link should help you figure it out.
Hey thanks for the reply.. I think I have that same page saved already for deciding what resistor goes with the LED... I was thinking of wiring them all together as one unit so I don't have to find a bunch of posts on the bottom of the mother board to wire them to. I would just need one set of posts I think if I wire it all as one.. I just have to figure out how to use this multimeter so I can find posts that have power lol.
Ok this is what I was able to come up with.. Can anyone tell me if the way I got everything figured out will work ? Thanks
