Really nice mold, but lack of paint hopefully spells premium release.

 

Doubtful. Premiums were a concession of the first movie line as filler. With it's unexpected success, Hasbro was willing to splurge a bit more, since they'd already made gangbusters.

For this movie, they've got a lot more toys planned out for it, with a more continuous over-arching strategy. Premium series is not likely outside of store exclusives.

Anyways, with this new gallery, just noticed something. Those "totally inaccurate" crossed smokestacks on his back? There's that hinge joint at their base that we haven't seen before. And due to the way they're connected to the gas tanks, it looks like there's a swivel there. It seems that they rotate out of the way and fold down.

 

It just looks fabulous.

I'm drooling at the prospect of having him and Megs dueling it out on my shelf.

It would seem you're right. Maybe they fold down and rotate against the body to look more like the movie?

Between that, his rotateble wheel on his feet and the sunvisors he'll look even more accurate properly transformed.

l absolutely love the mold, too bad about the lack of paint..

EDIT: Yeah, the pic Lord Ginrai linked to shows the folded stacks, the angled sun visor, and the fact that the wheels on his ankles can rotate, even if it's the wrong way in the pic.

 

I will have him and repaint him and love him forever and ever, then I shall name him george.

 

Very extremely impressive. Though I'd have tinted the clear plastic so the gears in the chest did not show so much. But I guess that's supposed to be the gimmick, seeing the gears.

 

I'm curious if the swords can come off his arms

 

The lack of paint makes an otherwise good figure look just okay. I'll hold off buying the Prime to see if a repaint is in the works. Else ...

Impressive bot mode, but something about the vehicle mode seems off :x It looks almost too long, or the wheels too small. The lack of paint apps is really dissapointing- even the non-premium from the first flick's line has more paint than this. Something about the plastic used in these figures seems wierd too, the colors are really unsaturated and bright  

The more I see of this line, the less I like it.

 

Looks very nice. The orignal (from the first movie) was good, but this is leaps and bounds better. Much more accurate to what is on the big screen. This toy is approved by The Crazy Collector.
