I mean, see the exclusive Chevy test drive mold that was one of the best deluxe designs of the era and never used again.

 

Depends on the advertisement. I mean, I'd choose, say, a Cheetos truck over a Christmas-themed thing. I want Optimus Cheeto. Amazon? No.

 

Why does the Fandom have such an issue with transparent plastic? I have literal thousands of figures in my collection and it's never been a problem over decades.

As soon as we saw how his legs were a lot of us started calling for a Hero Prime redeco. Could it actually be done, though?

So that black part I circled fills in his knee in bot mode, but I don't think it's vital to the truck mode. If you remove it the grill can fold down farther, and that'd give the knee clearance to bend. The lower legs can be removed at the bottom of the knee joint and swapped over to easily enough, as long as they can still fold into the cab we're set there. I'd want the front of his hips showing, but that's as easy as putting them in backward; you can see before you fold his crotch up that they're just mushroom pegs. Ideally you'd want to remove the feet where the ankle pivot is pinned and swap them around so his toes still face forward, but if that interferes with transformation it's not a must-have. Unfortunately the only issue I'm sure of is his crotch; in a perfect world his crotch would still be on the front, that is, you'd swap the lower legs at the knee joint so they're facing the other way. But that will require spinning his waist 180 degrees for truck mode, but he can't transform properly that way. So his butt would have to become his crotch, and his crotch would have to become his butt. If they can afford to remold a few pieces, though, so much the better. Beyond that, we just need to ditch the Earthrise trailer for a flatbed with his missile launcher and I'd be content.

 

Did not expect to get this so soon but I love it! Awesome proportions and a fun transformation.



Note: Just so no one thinks it comes with the set, the axe is from a DNA Ultra Magnus kit, I just thought the colors worked nicely with the shield  .

 

His shoulders also need to be wider. Can the wheels tuck in more closely to the actual torso instead of sitting on the back somewhere? He looks too thin like this.

 

I mean, you're right if we want to be totally faithful, and while we're at it his chest windows need tweaked and he needs a port on the outside of his forearm for the missile launcher. Based on how he transforms, though, we're not going to get everything without an extensive retool or even a whole new mold. All I'm saying is that Hasbro can get what I'd consider to be close enough with little to no new parts, just a different deco and assembly.

 

I really hope we get a non-holiday deco of this. I think it's a really cool take on Optimus that isn't yet another cabover. I would even consider painting one myself if it weren't for the translucent green. I'd even take it without the trailer.

It's odd seeing him with Earthrise/Laser Primes. He looks maybe a hair taller, and he's proportioned better, and yet somehow he's thinner in the limbs. Oh well. Still looks good. Expecting mine... someday.

Like all Christmas stuff, does Holiday Prime go on heavy clearout sale post Christmas?

 

I mean, even the holiday one is an advertisement since it's a licensed alt mode.

 

If he does I'd buy another one to paint.

 

I don't see Holiday Prime available at the biggest stores so I'm less sure about a big sale later. Already sold out at Gamestop if that means anything   But there's gotta be inevitable redeco's later on
