Yet another leader Grimlock. Probably the only thing notable about mine is the chrome. I love chrome, so i didn't want to lose it (most if not all other major repaints I've seen have covered the chrome). Obviously Hasbro went waaaaaaay overboard with the chrome and it couldn't just be left as is. So I gradually went back covering more and more chrome until it finally became a nice highlight rather than the blinding mess they gave us.
Very cool! Just getting a more uniform color scheme on him makes such a big improvement. When I get Leader Grimlock, I'll be on the Paint Over The Chrome boat, but I'm glad you did yours this way- keeping the parts you liked nice and shiny. He looks really nice like this.
Thank you! I don't get it. Certainly there are some subtleties I did a mass produced toy would lack, but as a basic idea what I did here would have been very easy and really the only obvious way to color a screen accurate Grimlock. A black or dark grey would have been close to what I did here. The funny thing was i didn't actually start on this until I saw the pictures for Takara's Black Knight Grimlock. I had assumed that would be what I'd need (what with Black being in the name). I thought I might add a little light dry brushing for texture, but it would be close. Then I saw he's very light grey and started on this guy that night. Thanks. Thank you! Thanks. He actually doesn't photograph well (with my camera phone with no real exposure control- I need a better camera). He looks better in person than these pictures convey.
Woah Woah I'm loving the look of this! Your metallic black is almost perfect ! Not too black or just plain silver . Contrary to popular opinion, I actually like the chrome and and am pleased that you didn't paint over the chrome. Though this would be perfect with the green patina I'm definitely basing my custom grimlock if I do one on your awesome custom which is the one I have been most enthusiastic about so far
Thank you! Good luck. I've actually got the oversized KO coming. It's not chromed (unfortunately), so I may try the green patina on him when I get to it. Thank you!
