Thanks, Ninos. Here's a small update. I'm nearly halfway done with the build. I have some touch up work, but the 'right side' of the figure, sans the head, back, and extra tentacles, is just about done. Check it out. Casualty of the night: I actually did this opening my beer. Eff me. - Alty
Funny you should ask. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/682240-storm-eagle.html http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/679574-boomer-kuwanger.html http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/314737-flame-mammoth.html http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/346177-overdrive-ostrich.html I have all of the others from X1 planned, as well as a few from X2 through X6. I hope to get to them all, eventually. And thank you! - Alty
Excuse the double post. Update time. That's where I jinxed myself. In stress-testing Launch, I broke the waist articulation joint. It sucks to be set back, but it's also a good thing. I went back and gutted the chest from the back side, and will be building a better, stronger connection. There was also an issue of a large gap from the bottom of the torso to the top of the hips, so this will give me a chance to correct for that. Back-side tentacles, with a placement mock up. Missile pod shoulder open and closed, from the front and back. 'Arm' attached, with missile pod shoulder open and closed. Here's a cool shot of everything starting to come together. Tentacles in various stages of work. Here is the lower half. Putty curing on one foot, and plastic weld curing on the crotch. Almost there. Here are a few shots of the goofy fish-torpedo that I am building up for Launch. He's been given teeth, a segmented underbelly, and now I am working on the optics. And a shot of tonight's brew. - Alty
yea really kool man i love the torpedo shoulders and propeller feet, and although the tubes on the pilot head look awesome, they aren't so accurate (even though they really look it) are you gonna keep them? would be very conflicting for me.
This is looking phenomenal so far....the Mavericks from the first X game (well, all the villains, if you want to get technical) never got enough love as far as figures/merchandise went...such cool character designs! Thanks for the regular updates--it gives a really clear idea of your progress! That being said, would you be willing to provide a parts/staging list of some of the other bots, specifically Chill Penguin, Armored Armadillo, and Sting Chameleon? You're welcome to PM me the info if you don't feel like posting new threads for each one---I'm really on edge to see if it's possible for me to bash something like this myself, or whether I'm better off just ordering a commission (if you do them, that is). Keep up the awesome work!
Yup, I plan on keeping the tubes on the face. They're part of the reason I picked up that helmet in the first place. Thanks. Thanks! I'm glad you like the work. I haven't really put anything together for Chill Penguin yet. I'm still doing some research. I ~think~ I'm going to use a Super Deformed Zeon Gogg as the base figure. I bought some cheap McDonald's Madagascar penguin toys... not sure if they'll help much. Don't have much nailed down for him. Armored Armadillo will be a hybrid bash of Beast Wars Retrax, a Zoids Molga, and some parts from a MSIA Devil Gundam (I think... I got them from Kusanagi. Maybe he remembers better than me. ). Sting Chameleon is being built by a friend. I keep harassing him to post pictures, but he's lame. I'm always leaning on him to sell it to me. Maybe one day, he'll crack, and ~I~ will post pictures. He made it out of a modified X figure, with 1/144 Altron Gundam arms for the tail, and one of the Altron dragon heads for Sting's head. The hands were scratch-built. I will eventually post threads of each one when I get around to it. I've also been kicking around the idea of getting these guys cast and made into garage kits. Launch Octopus disassembles pretty well. It should be simple enough. I'll keep you updated. Cheers! - Alty
You may get a chance! We'll see how things go. Small update. Things are starting to come together: Group shot! - Alty
Blue Moon! Good choice. Are you planning to keep the facial details from the base head piece for Launch or are you planning to sculpt in the details later on?
Thanks! Oktoberfest case. I plan to keep some features from the Tie Fighter pilot helmet, such as the tubes and the mouth/speaker. Additional details will be sculpted into place, such as the exaggerated brow and the caps and gems along the back of the head. - Alty
just so much awesome they're all looking fantastic alti! especially Flame Mammoth and how he towers above all! wish i still had my snes so i could kick some maverick metal @$$!!!
Thanks! You should download ZNES or another Super Nintendo emulator. You can find any game you want by following the link below: Planet Emulation - Les jeux video ont aussi leur histoire ! Small update: More to follow tomorrow. Cheers. - Alty
I always sucked ass at the Megaman games. But I kept wanting to play them to see the cool character designs! This is shaping up to be awesome. Love the work that's gone in to this.
looking better every time i come in here and check. youre inspiring me! I feel the radicon juices flowing! btw thanks for the tip alti!! had to beat Mega Man X (to be honest it took me a while to get back in hunter form) so that got me thinking, you got x and the maverick bosses, what else you got in store... maybe sigma?
loving it! i hope X has the Armadillo's power when batteling this kickass custom! I too, hope to see sigma!
