Awww, man. I was hoping she would be here for the Centennial. I'm just glad DiCaprio, Winslet and the rest made sure she was taken care of in her last days.
Aww... even the mention of the Titanic makes me want to cry. I blame Celine Dion for making me watch the movie. And the movie for informing me on what happened on the Titanic. >.< RIP Millvina Dean.
I saw that this afternoon. Pretty sad in a sort of "end of an era" way, but she lived a long and very eventful life, so not much to really be sad about there.
wait....didn't the last survivor die months ago? and then a couple years before that? I remember a topic here a little while ago about the same thing. How many "last" survivors of the titanic are there?
I thought you were talking about the last person who actually paid for a ticket and endured the whole movie....heard she was a vegetable after the credits rolled. in all seriousness, technically, she was a survivor of the tragedy, but at such an age at the time that she has no memories of what happened. (which is a blessing, i think she once said.) But the last person who was old enough to understand and remember what was happening, when they passed away, i know they deserved peace. that's my 2 cents. semantics aside, i wish her peace now.
My girlfriend actually met her a few times when she used to live in Southampton. Millvina Dean was a regular at the hotel she worked at and by all accounts she let the whole thing go to her head - she used to expect freebies all the time and if anyone questioned it the usual response was "Don't you know who I am?!"
Uhg I guess I was the only one who didnt care about Titanic, and found the movie stupid....... Good job on living through it though.
Last survivor dies. May she rest in peace. She is in a better place now. The ship itself is slowly dying she will be gone in a few years. She'll be a pile of rust.
