So I just got my laptop fixed and the motherboard replaced and my computer has always rans super hot so I got a chill mat with a fan.

I know my laptop fan was spinning earlier, my question is if the chill mat is keeping the laptop cold enough does the laptop cut the internal fan off?

    Yes.

Depends on the laptop, but usually, yes.

Usually it's a BIOS setting that controls that. Asus have a setting called 'Cool n Quiet' that turns the CPU fan off if its below a certain temp. I personally turn it off since I think consistent air flow is better. Check in the BIOS :)

I've had laptops before but now they run so hot.

Thanks for the info on all my old ones the fan always ran contionusly like on my desktop.

The more thay complicate things the more stuff you think could be wrong.

My Mac laptop never got this hot 10 years ago and I know the drives spin faster now but it's crazy that thry can't desing things to where they need additional cooling.

It's not like I got a warp core in here, luckily the new fan mat seems to be great.
