Tracy Butler's LACKADAISY Coming to Animation In Collaboration with IRON CIRCUS If it's animated as well as it's drawn it should be fun to watch He did some nice how to draw expression guides I used to show to my students
So like gangsters and private eyes but with cats? Totally sold. Also, Disney's hands belong no where near something this brilliant.
Lackadaisy: The Animated Short Film It got funded in 6 hours, but there are strech goals and you can get copies of the graphic novel at $15 and higher. The Kickstarter page has a fully voiced animatic so you can get a feel for what their planning.
Alright, that was really good. I decided to not read the comic beforehand, I only heard about this last year, so I went in blind. First of all, it was consistently beautiful to look at. Character designs and backgrounds were both incredibly good. The animation was excellent throughout as well. Story wise it set things up well. It's very moody and takes it's time to really set up the premise and characters. My only complaint is that they left a lot of the linework visible in the finished animation. There were a few scenes where that was very distracting to me. I'm going to read the comic now that I've had my first taste. Hopefully they can get some more of this animated, but it's still great to know the story goes on in the comic even if it doesn't.
Congratulations! It's only a dream, but it sure would be nice if this and a couple other good animator teams were what turned American animation around to not being ass ugly again.
Huh, yeah. I also have not read the comic, but sat down and watched - the animation feels pretty classic, the music is on point, the setting is a jam...I'm pretty impressed! Though I will agree that the occasionally-visible linework is distracting. And yeah, even if nothing else gets the animated treatment, new webcomic to read!
