I came across this on their website, but I haven't seen it in any store. Have any of you used this particular color of Krylon? The description says it looks like real chrome, not paint. I'm wondering if it's true.

They also have a Mirror surface spray but it says its for glass. I'm wondering if it would work on plastic anyway.

I tried it a while back. It's a very bright silver with some reflectivity, but it's nowhere near a mirror chrome finish. It chips and scratches pretty easily too.

I just bought it and used it on a couple of Shapeways items. It's the shiniest paint I've ever used. I then ruined it by spraying it with Krylon crystal clear. It just turned all splotchy.

Krylon Premium Metallics spray paint (review)

Looks like I may be looking into this soon. Where did you purchase it? I didn't see it at Wal*mart, and K-mart has pretty much stopped carrying Krylon. Hardware store perhaps?

I got it at Michaels'. Some sort of craft store. I believe I saw it at Kragens auto parts too. I can't really say I recommend it though. It's been a couple of days and the paint just seems soft to the touch. I can actually make fingerprints on it, but can smooth it away. Real shiny though.

Is is acrylic? It sounds like an enamel, as this type of finish is very characteristic of enamels if applied a certain way.

I'd definitely like to know more about it, especially after looking at the link I posted and the work found there.

Enamel I think. I've used enamel sprays on Shapeways stuff before and it never gave me any trouble.

I have found (in my atempts to create my custome Wildrider) that if you TRY to topcoat the Rustoleum and Krylon "Chrome" paints, it just totally fubars the thing. So I dont try now. Which sucks since I like the high shine on the vehicle body a top coat provides.

I'd bet a coat of Future would do wonders, though.

No actually Future over Krylon chrome leaves it blotchy too.

I've got really shiny weapons now, but I'm afraid to handle them for fear of leaving fingerprints. First world problems.
