So the Shinkong Mitsukoshi Department in Xinyi, Taipei is putting on a Transformers "expo" this week, which mostly consists of a few games for kids to play and the odd display case (including Jetfire, The Knights of Unicron set and a test shot of MP Bumblebee!), and they have a few exclusive Kre-o sets. I snagged the Elite Optimus Prime, because, well, I'm a sucker for Optimus. The figure uses a standard Kreon torso and head, then you build the arms and legs and attach them to the main body. I don't know if this is new or not, but the legs use ball joints for the knees and ankles. Poseability is pretty good, at least in the legs. The arms are pretty limited by the shoulder ball and the simple hinged elbow. Wrists can move left to right, but that's it. Also, the waist likes to pop out every time I twist it. All in all, it's a neat little Optimus and worth the $2.25 US or so I paid for it. According to the adverts, it's a limited and exclusive item, but I haven't been able to find out limited or exclusive to what.
I with with homey when he got this. And I'll try to get pics up of the expo this evening if I can. I'm liking those leg pieces with the ball on one end and socket on the other! Looks pretty sweet in that dynamic pose. Captain America is also looking pretty sweet in the background getting ready for his bourgeois photo shoot.
The new parts in the limbs are pretty interesting, but overall he looks awkward. He's stretched out and has weird proportions. "Tall Kreon" would be perfect for bots like Ultra Magnus and Overlord, but it needs to be refined a lot more before then.
