This thread is for People to share all of their Kotobukiya Model Kits that feature models from: -Frame Arms -Frame Arms Girls -Megumi Device -Armored Core -Hexgear ...and any other mecha/mecha girl lines than can be crossed over for use with the other lines mentioned above. Honestly, I really love all the stuff and am barely just now starting to get into it finally after over 10 years of procrastinating. I'm hoping to see what folks have come up with so I can get some ideas on where to start with the various lines. Also I just want to see some awesome Photos of People collections. So I can get more inspired. So far, for me...It's starting with "A Fist"
Fir some reason I thought that hand would be a lot bigger. Looks like a decent replacement for PotP Predaking's hands.
I have a cabinet full of MSG stuff. Between that and optional Armored core parts I been collecting their sub-lines for a while. Frame arms is certainly under appreciated as far as mech designs go, and don't forget their Border Break line. I just picked up my first Megumi Device. I was in a Mitsuwa in Chicago and found the exclusive archer at one of the small shops inside. I likely won't build it till next year, but it seems like a decent kit.
Trust me, the hands are Deceptively Big. You mind terribly posting some photos of all your cool stuff man?
I have a small stash of Kotobukiya's stuff, mostly for experimentation and customs purposes. They have cool designs, but their build/molding process is nowhere near as good as Bandai's (though in Koto's defense, Bandai's been doing this A LOT longer). I have full kits for: - Armored Core CREST CR-C840/UL - Frame Arms #002 Gourai - Super Robot Taisen Wild Raubtier As add-on sets: - Armored Core Weapon Unit 011 (Handgun + Sniper Rifle) - 2x Armored Core Weapon Unit 015 (Handgun + Sniper Cannon) - 2x MSG Weapon Unit MW08 Lance + Double Blade - 2x MSG Weapon Unit MW18 Freestyle Bazooka - 2x MSG Weapon Unit MW24 Handgun - MSG Weapon Unit MW28 Impact Edge - 2x MSG Heavy Weapon Unit MH16 Overed Manipulator - 2x MSG Weapon Unit 01 - Burst Railgun - 2x MSG Weapon Unit 06 - Samurai Master Sword I buy a lot of the add-on weapons in pairs so that I can do symmetrical mounts or dual-wield and stuff.
I got into Koto's kits back during the Phantasy Star RAcaseal days, and they have definitely improved a lot since back then. I have a few Frame Arms, but mostly build the Girls, Megami Device, MSG, and Hexa Gear stuff. I should try to get some pictures up, haven't really posted much online since Photobucket went batty.
hi, im interested in checking out the megami device since its completely out of my regular model kit comfort zone. What's a good one to start off with?
I wouldn't say any are particularly harder or anything, but if you are looking for one without too many extra armor parts, maybe Pretty Witch, Magical Girl, or Eidelweiss. Archer is fairly lean too, and is probably my favorite. Alternatively if you want one with a lot of armor, Sol Raptor is good. The core bodies are mostly the same across the board. The first wave of soldier/sniper were known to have more easily breakable hip joints, but later releases beef it up a bit and often have extras. I've yet to break one myself. Wrist joints are your other big worry. Sanding joints is widely recommended.
Here's my lone MSG, was looking for a cool whip with spikes and this worked great for what I needed It's a very patient build bcuz at first I had a hard time sliding the sections through the wire but I quickly got the hang of it after taking a break and coming back to it
I've seen tons of video reviews, you may want to do a search on youtube for Megumi Device. Some really nice looking kits out there. (I plan on getting them myself) Just Keep in mind that though they tend to come with more accessories than the Frame Arms Girls, they are actually smaller. (Of note: Unlike the Frame Arms Girls, the Megumi Device Girls are just Human Girls wearing armor, whereas the Frame Arms Girls are Robot Girls that battle one another it's in their programming to fight. I know that overall it's not really important, but it might very well explain their scale to one another. (sorry I watched the short lived Frame Arms Girl Anime lol) Anyway on a somewhat related note: I'm getting my very first Frame Arms Girl via Amazon tomorrow. wish me luck into this eventual Rabbit Hole obsession. lol Honestly I'm getting her first because she was one of the first in the first anime to appear after Gourai. Besides how can you not like a cute Battle Bunny girl?
ROFL. Why do you have so many Juden Kuns. I really should watch the *** anime soon. You are going to like it. The girl is cute and mechanical parts are excellent. I am going to buy the FA Baselard because how much l like the FA parts of *** Baselard. Just remember to test fit and sand down the tight joints to slightly loose, especially for shoulder ones so you won't accidentally break them. Built the new Stylet this week. The new face expressions are just great. I regret not getting the limited edition with the translucent hair parts and blank faces now.
Awwwwwwwww, I want a red Baselard! Well, so anyway...Finally got my Baselard built. Took me all day and night. Ugh. I lost a part and broke a part. Sadly gonna have to buy another baselard just to get the parts a lost and broke. Oh well... Despite how long it took to build ii, love her. I enjoyed the overall exp. I have no intentions on painting it at all. Not about to ruin the thing. Its fragile as hell as it is is so I plan on posing her sparingly. (and yes, I did cut myself at least once. lol Hey, if you don't cut yourself at least once, you didn't work hard.
I keep procrastinating on getting into airbrushing due to worries about messing it up, as these kits arent cheap and take a while to build. Luckily they mostly look decent without paint, though the MSG kits tend to be kind of boring without any highlights. I don't have a good answer on the Judens. But I guess many of my girls have a place to sit at least.
AWWWW she comes with little high heels thats cute but at the same time, just when i thought i figured out which one to get i see this! Ah man back to the drawing board...
Check you manual. If the broken part is made of PS plastic, you can glue it back with Tamiya or other modeling cement. If you want to buy another Baselard for the missing piece, might as well wait until this December. Kotobukiya has released *** Zelfikar (aka black enhanced Baselard) and will be releasing Zelfikar ST (white Baselard with added armour and weapon)this Dec. Some improvements have been made on the joints and come with new face expressions. Since these improved kits tend to come with many unused parts from the original runner, it's possible that you can get the replacement piece from them.
The part that broke is the clip that attaches the part above the left kneecap. It sucks. The kit ain't cheap. Fragile stuff like this should include replacement parts for anything remotely fragile. and that is def a very weak tiny fragile part. It's not like it's going to break their bank.
I just paid for this set here from Amazon Prime. it should arrive sometime tomorrow. Really excited. Now my Baselard will have some cool stuff to go with her.
