So... I was looking at replacing my KBB Thundercracker as the plastic quality isn't great and the hands keep breaking (plus one of the guns won't sit in the arm socket and keeps popping out). I had a look on eBay and found some KOs of the official being sold for A$75 or so. My question is, what is the quality like for a straight KO of the official (rather than the YM or KBB version)? And what improvements did YM make to the mold (like, a longer pin to keep the stomach tabbed in, etc)?
Apologies if these have been answered previously, I don't want to have to trawl through 430+ pages!

My Thundercracker has a nice tight waist plug in and the only issue is that the wings have a tendency to slip out of the slots in bot mode from even the slightest of shifting his wings. I think perhaps future, nail polish or some gorilla glue might help to give it some gripping strength. Other than that my YM Thundercracker is rock solid and for sale in my thread.... FYI

I did read several pages back of people who had bought the KO versions to save some cash and they said they were absolute trash. I guess you get what you pay for. YM are much better and if the wings on mine that I am selling did stay locked in little tighter when in bot mode I can say he is more way more stout than my Takara that I am selling. He has super tight joints and his waist plug is higher and when you push the torso down it stays locked.

Mind if I ask, and I hope not to start a flame war but which is the best Starscream KO? Or like which are my top pics?

Quality-wise it would be any of the Yes Model(YM)/KBB options for the best quality. However none of them have quite the same color deco as the Takara version. With that said the best quality KO with the same color deco as Takara's MP11 coronation Starscram would be the KO MP Starscream (Starburst) from KBB.

I'm leaning towards the yes model, I like the extra paint job on it. Yeah is not the same color as the MP but I dig it more like this.

I recommend grabbing Yes Model while you can. They seem to be drying up everywhere. Not to mention is on some kind of production hiatus due to funding problems so they aren't cranking more copies out of the factory at the moment. I hope they bounce back soon.

Yeah the Yes Model ones are the best ones out there. I recently bought a KBB Skywarp and the quality of it left a lot to be desired in comparison to the YM KOs. I just hope they eventually do the Nacelle, Purple clone, and whatever the other one that was teased in the near future.

Apparently KBB's best quality non-conehead seeker is their Starscream (Starburst). Not sure why they dropped the ball with their Skywarp.

Well if you want to save some cash all my YM Yes Models are up for grabs and are cheaper than ebay prices. FYI/ See my sales thread. I just sold an official Takara Starscream the other day. Oh and mine have the hand upgrades from KFC and are still a better bargain. yay!!

Hi guys! After a long time following this thread, and waiting for straight KOs of the Coneheads, I got the 3 original MPs from BBTS, 99 dollars each one. They fit perfectly in my collection. But I got also KO Thundercracker and Skywarp thanx to your recommendations and I glad I did. The original coneheads are a pain in the ass to pose but they have a Nice look anyway. TT is probably in the way of making New Seekers and coneheads but their current aestaethics don't match with my taste and collection. Thank you guys for all the advice! :thumb

Ok ordered one, was a bit reluctant but I found a "good price" from a trusty seller on ebay. Guess those are my buys for now until next month payment.

    Who is the seller?
If you haven't already it may be quite helpful to consult, run a search or ask around in this thread:
