If you look around at the usual sites, you might notice that not only has KO Shockwave been released but KO Superion set as well: Transformers G1 Aerialbot Superion Air Warrior KO Reiss For Sale
I saw that the other day on that site. Way too much for a KO - IMO. I'm in the process of restoring and completing my Superion, and I'm still paying less than what the average price for this KO was going for. Still I do like the box for display purposes. I got this giftset as a kid for Christmas, and LOVED it. Was my first complete combiner. He was my secret weapon during my battles.
Superion was my first combiner too - he was always a favourite Autobot combiner, although my only other option was Defensor who was cool in his own way but just not as awesome as a big robot made out of five planes. Good luck with completing your Superion - not long ago I finally got the last fist piece I needed for mine and it felt so good to fully assemble him again 20 years on.
A bit pricey, but I commend the KO makers for releasing yet another toy which Hasbro/Takara refuse to reissue.
Now I wonder....if this is going to be higher quality, like the later boxed Devastator KO sets, or if it's going to be the same cheapo styrene "easter basket specials" in a shiny new box......
as long as it is not as much 400 or more as the ebay ones ill buy it i will say some knock offs are little better looking than the original ones there nothing wong with ko as long they dont break in your hand or fall apart thats my theroy
I've actually had an ID guide up here for over a month: HIGHENDTFS.COM | "Seperating the Crème from the Crap" /=)
Why do people keep saying they REFUSE to release something? Maybe in some cases but come on, sometimes they just CAN'T do it. That's what worries me about combiners. I have no problems with these type of reissues because they are meant to look like the real thing. We have been burned so many times by crappy KOs that fall apart when you look at them wrong, that I am afraid of combiners!
I dunno but if Hasbro keeps raising prices I might just start getting ko's instead of the real deal...as long as its affordable...or start making my own!!
sadly i have never owned a complete combiner set or even a sufficent number of the bots and parts from one to cobble one together
The only acceptable "we cant" excuses are for toys like Shockwave and Jetfire where they dont own the toy, or in cases like Fort Max and Megatron where they will in no way pass current safety standards(for Hasbro at least). Other than that they're bullshiting us. I once talked to a guy who worked with plastic molds and he claimed that reverse engineering something like that would be entirely possible as long as he could make his money by selling enough units. Maybe that is the problem here, but if they make a limited run and sell at around the price of these KOs in the collectors club or something, they could stand to make a nice amount of money. Just imagine if the TFCC offered a Blue Bluestreak in packing that was as close to G1 as possible. I'm not a member, but I think I would join in a heartbeat to buy that exclusive.
And given that they have the mold, it boggles the mind that no one has yet released a blue Bluestreak.
Just a couple of notes Might Gaine, KO Slag no longer has the gold mouth and shoulders. They've corrected it to the proper silver. Also, Swoop's launchers fit fine now and the quality is good outside of some slight chest flaking that is still present.
Also, anyone that wants an original G1 combiner will always have to be weary of individual limbs. Making sure that each limb is not a K.O. is going to be very difficult if not impossible to do. There's not much incentive left in this hobby for old school collectors.
