Yeah, the boxart colors are a dead giveaway that it's the KO. Plus the shortened hose is another one. I will say it again: "A fool and his money......"

    You know the rest ;)

well, at least the shipping is free. How many times do you have to report something before Ebay takes it down? I know I reported this auction a few days ago

They were quick to pull those KO HMs that were being listed by sellers. Probably because, gasp, the sellers were being honest and listing them as repros/reissues. Kind of sad IMO. I can't imagine the sellers of those KO Shockwaves paid more than $150 for one. Are they still available at places like KOtoys.com and such?

Part of me does, and another part of me does not. That is a lot of money to be spending on TFs. He should have known better. I wouldn't be throwing that kind of money around without making sure the item I am getting is authentic.

Yep, KO toys still has them

Shockwave G1 Reissue Grey Barrell - G1 KO at KOTOYS.COM

So, how far can you go with a KO Transformer? So now, the winner got ripped off and probably will send this to AFA next. Will AFA grade it?

That's a helluva profit margin (if he paid $110 shipped for that KO). Makes me sick just thinking of it. While I'm no white knight, I know my morals would never allow me to do such a thing. I'd feel so dirty afterwards. And on top of that, you are going to become a Transformers fan pariah. Nothing's worse than a guy trying to pass off a fake as the real deal in a collecting community.

    Man, that sucks.

I don't get why people blame the buyer though. While I wouldn't buy sealed G1 at all, because I like to open my toys, and even then, the fear of KOs is too much, you can't blame someone from not knowing the minor differences in all these knock-offs that are ruining the market these days.

Seriously, the differences are usually related as in contrast to the original - meaning if you don't have the original right next to it, it's extremely difficult to spot.

The only person to blame here is the dishonest seller (and the KO makers, but that's another argument).

Auctions like these are the reason i dislike kos. Its nice to have a cheaper version of the original but scum sellers take advantage of people.

TBH this is why i plan on leaning towards afa G1 items if i ever buy anymore sealed ones. Unless i absolutely trust the person im dealing with. If im going to fork out the money for collection centerpieces i will not risk this kind of crap. I feel KO boxes in the future will move more and more towards exact replicas and that just sucks.

You do realize there are Fake AFA graded TFs out there too, right? There have been a few sellers out there that have tried to emulate the AFA look (down the serial number sticker) in hopes of cashing in.

Correct. Have to be careful in who you are dealing with, do some research on the afa, etc. Its a pain either way you look at it, tbh. Scum sellers.

I hate this. I just listed some knockoff G1 combiners starting at $.99 cents and not even an hour in they took it down and charged me with a policy violation. I stated in the auction title and listing text that they are knockoffs and are not real transformers or Hasbro products. Why can't we just list these old toys for sale?! So anyway I just added the KOs as a bonus item to one of my other auctions. I just wanna get rid of 'em! :lol

eBay has a rather strange way of dealing with KOs IMO. I don't see anything wrong with KOs being listed as such. There is a clear market for them. If there wasn't, the KOs would have stopped ages ago.

    Yeah, that sucks man.
You might want to put them in the Junkion Section.
I'm sure someone here would buy them.

Ebay is fraught with danger and as such i stay away, I don't wish to lump in the good sellers with the scum but i don't feel like taking the risk.

And even worse than that, there's been KOs that AFA has graded. So the AFA is legit, but the toy is still a KO. More reason not to bother with AFA.
