I genuinely wonder how much more painful the transformation might be. The original had a lot of sharp edges on it, can’t imagine the KO would be less sharp. I already kinda don’t want to transform my original purely because of those edges.

    :lol

As a mechanic who cuts his hands pretty much on a daily basis on metal corners and getting metal splinters, this thing feels like a sponge to me

i doubt i'll transform it more then once back and forth. i've just been in love with this robot design since it debuted and intend to leave it as a robot in all it's glory.

Nice! Wed love to know what you think!

Also is there a significant durability difference with Tamiya LP vs acrylic?

I like him a lot, he is heavy trough! and I never had Nero so this is my first time with the mold.
They did give him some upgrades, movable hands, a better head and chest sculpt and like I said he is heavy.. it is a great figure.
The truck is nice but I am not a fan of its proportions like I tought before.. He needs bigger wheels and he needs a door remold.. the door is this way to allow the transformation but ill never use that opening door gimmick so ill just add a faux rear door bit to fix it (the door needs to 30% longer.

Tamiya LP paints (like I use) are laquer based. they give a more sturdy paintjob that acrylics so they are harder and less prone to chipping or rubbing.
They are awesome in airbrushing to cause they dry faster and better.

Is the lacquer corrosive at all on the plastic or do you use primer first?

I have used laquers for over 13 years and never had issues with them. they work great.
I dont use primers much cause it would be a thicker paintjob.. Only if I have to go from dark to light I use a primer.
Mostly I use a degreaser before painting to be sure the plastic is clean and prepped.

So.. back to the big guy...

I LOVE the robot, if I paint him all the details will pop and he will not need much there other than the paint I mentioned (maybe a light in the chest and gun?)

    That said, alt mode..

he is to wide but that is common if you fit a bot that big in the truck so that is forgiven.
and he looks great with BMB LS03/03F
gal and prime.jpg (sorry for the messy desk, I have been working a LOT on stuff lately)

BUT look at the side of him and some issues are unforgivable

Galvatron idee.jpg I will mod mine with a faux door, extending it where the red line is to fix his side profile and have him apear more as a proper truck.
The yellow is where the new wheelwell wil be (aprox 4 mm higher if posible, it should follow the lower line of the headlights) and blue is the size the wheels should be, around 6% bigger.

    Galvatron idee 1.jpg
before paint (yes he will be fully repainted here to) this is where I hope to get.. seems doable.. just a little work o_O
