I don't have the jinbao ko oversize Devastator, I have the Toyworld TW-c07 Devastator, but i never liked the head/Face of this set.
His forehead and face are too narrow and also his visor.
Therefore i bought the Liketoys Jinabo Devastator Upgrade Set 2.0 because of the Head sculpt and replaced it.
I also painted the visor with Tamiya spray metallic red.
and now i think in my opinion my toyworld devastator with the Jinabo Upgrade Set 2.0 Head and painted visor looks gorgeous.
what do you think?

I have absolutely no G2 stuff, apart from some things from when i was a kid before i even knew G2 was a "new" thing
The yellow looks better for the alt modes, as if they could be real construction vehicles
However the green is undeniably THE Devastator

I'm still debating...

@Oheretic Can't quite figure out what you're doing with Longhaul's arms, but your pictures have been a great help in figuring out what the hell to do with the legs and it actually convinced me to put the legs back on.

 

I was surprised that PE didn't re-release their upgrade kit when the Hasbro Devy was reissued on Amazon. And believe me, I was reaalllly hoping that they did because there's no way in hell I was going to pay the current aftermarket price on that upgrade kit. Now that my Jinbao has so much more G1 accurate shelf presence with the latest upgrade, I'm thinking of selling my Hasbro version.

 

No kidding, I was "lucky" even to find the kit. and while expensive, it wasn't to the level is it being insane at least. But while it made the figures much better (elbows!! like come on Hasbro WTF was that, voyager size, a flagship product -Devastator!! - and that was the best that they do? and gave them the guns that they should have had, again, the hell Hasbro!) it was a case of why we had to get such a kit and it didn't change that the overall feel of the figure, just feels cheap.

The main issue for Jinboa for me was the feet, the emptiness of the cement truck's cab that doesn't hold all that great, and that the shovel foot is two stupid little pins (with mine arriving with a broken one), which this new kit resolves, but I feel like Jinbao could have done something to improve them, but still, the overall feel of this OSKO GB set is so above the Hasbro version that I've been on the fence about my CW one, but I get attached to my figures regardless and would hate to regret selling it just because.

I'm also considering to simply have them side by side and make it so that they are simply two different teams as there's no reason why not... imagine the Autobots having to face two different devastators! Kinda epic stuff there.

 

New Jinbao face is loads better, old TW face reminds me of a minor character from the Simpsons.

 

Thanks. In the pics showing the comparison to the Toy World version, that guy seems to have huge paws, and of course the bulkier forearms, while the JinBao's hands seemed a bit too small. I personally swapped my hands with the Warbotron as the hidden missiles seem more of a Bruticus thing.

 

I did the opposite early last year when I got the Liketoys printed parts. I put both TW heads on Jinbao Devy:



The new Jinbao Devy head is definitely better proportioned than the head from the first upgrade kit. I also posted this lot last year comparing all heads (couldn’t find what I did with the original Jinbao Gravy head):

Are there any US stores that have the upgrade kit?

 

Unlikely since jb is a ko company & most US stores don't tend to mess with those. Perhaps you might find a small timer on ebay or something.

It’a a bit hard to get a decent photo, but the hands are open with the palm facing upwards. This allows the hand to better fit into the available space, with the curved fingers acting a bit like a hook helping to keep the arm in position better. The arm ends up slanting backwards at an angle withe the truck exhausts covering both it and the hand. The exhaust themselves can be orientated to be straight if preferred.

2 Constructors finally disassembled & this guy put back together with the upgrade kit. Much less of a hassle & still looks good.

 

Is there a big difference in height between the old leg extenders from the original upgrade kit and the new one?

 

Instead of waiting for the XTB, I go for this guy and boy, never thought he's good with the other combiners.
