They're solid. Only tricky part is learning to balance the rest of the figure now that the arms can hold any angle. =)

Last couple of shots showing what the spline lock joints can do.

They work in the same way as the top of the 3A/Threezero stands do for my Bee and Blitzwing... good idea :D

It's funny, I was actually inspired by the 3-piece splined cranks on my BMX bike! Lol But I've seen this same thing before in statues and such too. For the weight of this particular combiner, there really isn't any better approach to the problem; anyone that's ever opened up the shoulder joint assembly can see that it was never intended for oversizing beyond the original Generation Toys scale/weight. The ratchet engagement is just way too tiny and fine toothed.

I haven't had any problems at all with the ratchets in mine...

But that's probably because it was combined once when it arrived and since then has been in individual bot modes because I like them :D

I have the NBK for combined mode :p

Once you put the gun and drills on him, his arms mostly become unposable.

Besides the never combing aspect I also don't have the drills :p

Oh that for sure is acceptable. Nice work! I usually have the arms a couple clicks out to the side, but all of the kibble on the Bonecrusher side knocks into the Hook's crane and really limits that kind of movement. Those few millimeters could probably make a big difference.

Not sure how the ratchets on this guy work, but do the shoulder joints or hip joints include springs? would having a stronger spring help him?

There's no springs in any of the joints. They're all just pressure joints relying on badly toleranced ratchet teeth designs made from low grade plastic.

Hey UZ! What the approximate diameter of your spline joint? Looks like it works pretty good! Any thoughts of incorporating magnets into the two parts? Cheers!

tiny neodymium magnets would definitely fix all his issues. but as it stands now a better joint just needs to be made instead of the static system that he has now.

I use neodymium magnets for a lot of projects, and the sizes that would be needed to hold sections of OSGB together would definitely not be "tiny". =) Some areas could maybe be secured better with medium to large sized magnets, but overall his design is just straight up not meant for the scale it was oversized to. All of the little friction pegs and tabs on the figure are worthless for the task they were intended to perform, and the plastic Jinbao used is too soft to support the engineering and mechanics Generation Toy incorporated. It's a shame that GT is trying to release their original scaled GB with a new paint job instead of oversizing it themselves with their quality standards, as I honestly think it would easily go toe to toe with TW Constructor and sell really well. Hell, I'd easily buy a dialed Generation Toy OSGB over TW Constructor if I had to choose between the two.

Anyone ever thought of petitioning jinbao to made improved joints and release them as an upgrade kit? Combined mode ratchets is the only thing I can think of I really need but I'm sure there is more lol

The problem with the figure is not just in the joints, unfortunately. A lot of the stock joints are actually strong (except maybe the shoulder ), but they overwhelm the design of the limb bots, which all fall apart every time you try to articulate the figure. Jinbao needs to learn to oversize tolerances and not just the toys when they do these OS KOs. They apply the same OS formula to all these combiners, but that doesn't work when these combiners are all coming from different companies and design philosophies. Still love their stuff though. Lol

So I bit the bullet and bought set A, 'cause I really wanted this version of Scavenger for my MP shelf, and this set is becoming quite scarce. Bulldozer's going to storage, though.

Anyway, there was a little baggie of parts that came with this... their pistols, rockets for their "jetpacks" (also storage), and 2 green parts which I can't work out what they're for. It's been years since I got the original set and combined them, and I can't remember if these were a thing with the GT set, or even which individual figure they might have come with. Any ideas?

Also, should I have got anything else... ie, am I missing anything I'm not aware of?

    Cheers.
