This is some impressive work. You've elevated these figures to the next level: someone needs to give you a job as a designer!
Made a bit more progress with Devastator. I’ve started working on the shoulder upgrades that will give him more width and allow the whole upper arm to rotate like the upgrade kits for the Titan version accomplished. It’s slow going because I’ve been super busy with work but I’m plugging away. As for making the files available; scrappers arms are available on Shapeways as a printed kit and I can make the any of the files available immediately for a small fee if anyone wants to buy them from me directly to print on their own equipment. I don’t currently use thingiverse. I will get them on Shapeways eventually but it’s not as straight forward as just uploading them as they are. It seems as though Shapeways tolerances are different to my printer, so the files need to be reworked and then multiple parts sprued together to get the kit as cheap as possible.
Buying the files from you sounds like best option considering wait times and costs associated with shapeways, look forward to seeing the whole kit and picking up a copy for myself!
Finally got a decent shoulder design printed. Now I need to design the adapter that links it to the arm.
For sure. I have the scrapper arm kit on shapeways. But, I’d also sell the files too. If you can print them yourself, then that would be the way to go. It would be waaaaaaay cheaper. I’m trying to get to a point where i’m happy with all of the tolerances on the other parts of the kit and that everything fits together well, before I let it loose. Scrapper was kind of a stand alone but the other mods on the other figures all integrate in the combined mode. So, its not as straight forward. I’ll get there though and I’m making a concerted effort to try and get through this now. I don’t have as many distractions.
Finally getting closer on the shoulder system. the tolerances are a bit off but the system works and is easily holding the weight of the arm.
That's looking damn good. Do the new shoulders stow away anywhere or are they cosmetic only for the combined mode?
After everything is hammered out on these upgrades, I'll definitely be interested in buying the files off of you. I got perma banned from PayPal with no explanation other than "an algorithm thing" back in December. Do you take venmo or Google pay? Guess I need to find a decent shade of a greenish yellow ABS and get my printer walls reinstalled. I'm currently configured for PLA and I'm definitely going to want to try to vapor smooth those parts.
I haven't figured that out yet. I will try and be as reasonable as possible though. I'll probably do breakout pricing for files associated with certain figures and then a combined price with everything. Thanks very much. The shoulders are only cosmetic. Trying to come up with a design that will work was hard enough. To try and figure out a way to integrate them beyond that is sadly more than I have patience for now. lol. Sure. We can figure something out. I was considering getting the files up on Cults3D or something like that. But, if you just wanted the files from me directly, we can work something out with one of those platforms. Right now, here is the status: Scrapper arm mods are complete; I haven't completed the Scrapper foot extension tweaks yet. Mixmaster mods are complete. Longhaul mods are complete. Hook mods still need some checking. Shoulder mods are still a WIP.
Hi everyone. I do have some updates. There is still a bit of refining to do but I’ve been collaborating with another board member, AlphaCustoms, to help drive this project home. We’ve been sharing ideas and will hopefully get this nailed. As a result, some things have moved forward. The shoulder system is pretty much done. We have an improved cab design for MixMaster, some added detailing on some of the other parts like the replacement arms for the different bots. AlphaCustoms has redesigned Hooks crane so that it extends and folds for a more compact look in combined mode. Hopefully we will be able to share some of these improved features soon. Anyway, attached is a pic of the unrefined combined form with all the core components attached. He’s looking more like the beast he should. Finally, if you have a printer that can take 2.85mm filament then Lulzbot green is an almost perfect match. You can see it on the trial print I did for the right shoulder.
