Mine still hasn’t arrived
Whyyyyy, storm? Why?
Kool! Do u have a 3d printer or use Shapeways?
I have a Lulzbot Mini.
I started out using Shapeways a few years ago. But, I wasn’t super impressed with the quality of the plastics they used (seemed very brittle) and the pricing was high.
I know they have a much better range of plastics now it their pricing is even higher now.
I bought my Mini and I’m thankful I did. My design skills are not top tier enough to get things right first time (or anywhere close to that. Lol). So, it gives me the flex to try things out.
It’s a great machine.
Just wish I could warrant investing in the next level kit that would do faster, multiple prints.
Do you print?
Any plans for combined mode upgrades?
I do!! I’m looking to getting my own printer since like u said, Shapeways is getting expensive. Would like to have the luxury of trial and error with my printing rather than print and wait for a dud from Shapeways so I can work on my mistakes
Was thinking of getting the flashforge as a printer.
That would be cool if Devastator had a face without the visor. Just 2 eyes
Yes. Once I get the individual bots up to par, I’ll work on refining the combined mode.
The Mixmaster foot is done. So, that is the biggie IMO. But, I’ll also be working on shoulder upgrades and possibly forearm/hand upgrades.
I did get asked about a new head too. So, I’ll take a look at that too.
Well, congrats on making the leap. There are a lot of great printers out there.
I would just recommend doing lots of research and getting one that fits your needs/tech know how. Read plenty of reviews.
One of the things I love about the Mini is that it’s largely plug and play. I don’t have to tinker too much with any of the hardware to get it to work.
Get the right one and it’ll save you a ton of time (turning your design to a real functional part) and money.
Next update is MixMasters arms.
Following in the footsteps of his fellow constructions; his new arms have the same kind of functionality.
Still need to tighten up the tolerances on these arms a bit and check vehicle mode but here’s a first look.
It will have one wheel mounted to the shoulder, when complete. But, we will be losing the second arm wheel and gaining a fake wheel on the forearm. This should hopefully give the appearance of 2 wheels at the back of the truck (when transformed) like the original g1 version and a fuel tank between the front wheel and back two wheels.
no YOU are the mix master for mixing up these models my dude
Can you make new hands and pegs so they’re all the same size?
you mean hands for the combined mode?
All the hands I’ve done on the new arms have 5mm open grip. The hands are different though. Long hauls are the biggest, then scrapper. Then hook and Mixmaster both have smaller hands just because of design constraints.
Not sure what I’m going to do with the last two characters. Haven’t got to them yet.
I did finish up MixMasters arms last night after tweaking the designs over the last few days. So, I’ll get a pic on here soon to show them.
Next I’m going to try and make that drum on his back work better for robot mode. And then the plan is to tackle his lower legs.
I meant for the individual bots.....haha
Because some of the holes are too big for certain tabs on the weapons and some of the pegs on the combined weapons are too small for the 5mm guys to hold, such as Scrapper, Hook, and Long Haul. They can’t hold the rocket launchers. And Mixmaster can’t hold the 5mm pegs because his hand holes are too small
Oh. I see what you mean. Well, I am standardizing all the hands as 5mm. Then, I guess, if I need to make adapters for some of the weapons, I can do that. So, Ill add those to the list. Lol.
Btw, here is MixMaster, sporting his 2 new arms.
I did have an oops moment last night when I broke one of the stock arms while trying to get the pin out.
Thanks goodness I had a spare new arm to replace it with
Bro these are incredible! Fixes a lot of the proportional issues with the original set. That Long Haul is particularly badass.
I hope to purchase these additions sometime
New addition tonight is a modified drum for MixMaster. It doesn’t have the tail that the stock one does.
I’ve also got a pic here in vehicle mode.
My next plan is to make some add on parts for MMs legs. To fill out his look in both robot and vehicle mode.
