Eagerly anticipated someone doing this KO for a while.
When it finally arrived, I was both happy (that it became a reality) and sad (that it was not modeled after the UW version).
That said, it has given me freedom to start thinking about some improvements that I can make using 3d printed parts, to mirror either the UW improvements over the CW version or attempt to replicate some of the 3rd party upgrade ideas.
Some of the initial ideas I came up with were:
    1. MixMaster cab (improved visual aesthetic in combined mode).
    2. MixMaster arms (for better articulation).
    3. MixMaster drum (modify so its less overbearing in robot mode).
    4. Scrapper arms (for better articulation).
    5. Hook arms (for better articulation).
    6. Combined form shoulder extenders.

I have made some progress on these so far.

In addition, I will be attempting to give Longhaul a bit of an overhaul.
My feeling was that he was the biggest let down of the gang in robot mode. So, I have some ideas to try and give him some extra stature and presence. All of the mods I come up with for him will be entirely new designs.

    Here is the latest status...

MixMaster cab...designed to function like the PE upgrade kit.

Scrapper arm upgrade. Functions well but I need to tweak the wall thickness for improved robustness.

    Initial concept idea for Longhaul.

These are great, this figure is surprisingly good, but definitely has some issues. Excellent work, keep it up!

    Looks good

While your doing combiner kits any plans to make a kit to boost Bruticus’s height up to Defensors with the c+ kit

Thanks. I love my Omega Supreme. It took pretty much a year to complete. Lol. But, I am really happy with the end result.

Thanks. I will see what I can do on the files.

    Thanks.

I am surprised how good this figure is for a relatively inexpensive set. The joints are all solid...which is one of my biggest concern areas with combiners.

Hopefully this will be a good set of upgrades. We may see another 3P make a set of downsized PE upgrades in the interim (before I get through the project)...which would be cool; but I also have a couple of ideas that haven’t been done yet (Longhaul upgrades and MixMaster drum mods). So, we will see how the project turns out.

I have thought about this. I hoped C+ would put something out there but it doesn’t look like that will happen anytime soon. So, if they don’t, it will definitely be on my radar. I need to figure something out....even with the PE and Dreamwave upgrades, Bruticus is pretty unstable and a bit of a disappointment overall. I’d like to figure out a way to make him more solid.
CW Devastator was really the gold standard for a combined form, in my opinion. They just nailed all the joints and made it a really robust figure. This KO is just as good.
All the other CW combiners are way behind that standard and could ideally do with stability improvements.

    Update.
Scrapper arms are now finished and in good shape. They work well in robot and vehicle mode. Features bending elbow and upper arm swivel, as well as wrist swivel and a better looking hand design.

Then, after playing around with a few upper arm design ideas for Long haul, I decided to go with the option that would be the easiest to implement. So, first mod for long haul is the upper arm spacer. This adds a bit of shoulder width and makes him look a bit more heavy up top where he needs it. I’ve only printed one side at the moment as I’m working on another job alongside it.
When I get a chance I will print the other side.
After that, I’m going to try and design and print some leg mods that will give him more of a g1 look and beefier forearms with elbow bend, upper arm swivel, wrist rotation and better looking hands.

Nah, I didn’t print the blaster. That was borrowed from a Cliffjumper head and blaster set I purchased from Shapeways.

    Update.

Long hauls new arms are almost complete. I nearly got it all done last night but forgot to change the second hand print from right to left and ended up with two right hands. Lol.
Anyway, here he is, starting to look more like the brute I knew he could be.
There is a bit of a sacrifice in vehicle mode, as I’ve obviously made his base wider with the new arms. It’s passable for me in order to have a much better robot form.
After the arms, I’m going to see about sorting out his lower legs.

Finished the main upgrade parts for Longhaul.
The leg pieces ended up being a really easy print when I decided to cut back on some of my grander earlier ideas.
I still need to paint them, but my initial thoughts are that they have really transformed this figure from barely passable to actually pretty awesome.
He is a taller than the other constructions now but I’m happy with that. After all, he’s the core of the combined form.

He looks really great. Does he still transform and combine?

    Thanks both.

    Yes, still transforms and combines.
The arms basically follow the same transformation step and fold down the side of the vehicle. They do make the vehicle wider though by flaring out those front wheel arches (as a result of the spacer in the upper arm).
The lower leg pieces are actually removable and re attach to the back of the vehicle. I was trying to come up with a way to keep them attached through the transformation but it really just wasn’t worth the effort and sacrifice of the overall look for the figure. So, i opted for parts forming. I don’t mind a bit of parts forming here and there. I will eventually get pics up showing the new look of the vehicle. It’s not quite as slick as stock but for the gain in robot mode, its totally worth it to me.

Regarding combined mode; yes, he can still combine. The change in the arms mean the transformation follows more of the Takara version than the CW version though, where the arms are swiveled around the bicep towards the rear, instead of just flipping up to the side like the CW figure. I will also be designing shoulder adapters for the combined mode that will move Scavenger and Bonecrusher outward and give more room for Longhauls added shoulder width.

So, there’s a lot more to come on this project :)
