As you no doubt already know, a knock off is a product not produced by the licensed company (or whatever). Anyway, I'd just like to know how everyone feels in regards to TF KOs. Recently I spotted a few G1 combinder KOs and thought they were pretty neat. I didn't buy them but yeah...neat
its popped up at least once in TFGD and twice in toywark in last 3 months dont feel bad. its a recurring anomolous abberation.
WHERE'S MY FRICKIN' PREDAKING!?!?!?!?!?!?!? I've been practically glued to my local Big!Lots, in hopes that I might find any of the new KO's, like the cassettes, or Energon Prime (Send the Books, Baby!), or Predaking. All I find is a whole lotta nothing!
Some KOs are dead handy. The Trainbots, for example, are close to the original, but much, much cheaper. Given the expense and rarity of the original they're a good "poor man's Raiden". The mini-gestalt KOs or the oversize ones are nice as oddities, but mostly I don't bother on KOs since I either have the originals or plan to get them, so the KO is just eating up funds until that time.
KO's are great if you have no way to get any really nice Japanese stuff. I got a KO Fighbird cause I know there's not much of a chance I'll ever actually find a real one. They're also great for kitbashers too. Good way to try tuff out without spending a fortune.
I have had a few KO's, but they are really only good for display, as the combiners fall apart easily. Now, the new ko casettes are really nice...I know the blatant G1 packaging rip off..but I wouldn't mind a set of those babys to keep sealed.
I don't like knock offs which are an attempt to replicate an original. Would rather buy the original since the knock offs are often poor quality. Unless it's something rare and really expensive. But I do really like unique knock offs. The Beast Machines Optimus Primal, WST sized combiners and others. Tiny and oversized versions are always amusing.
Some knockoffs are good looking like the WSTs combiners, most like one you find at adollar store are pretty lame.
