Universe Cyclonus was a marvel of toy engineering at the time, and I distinctly remember searching eBay for the cartoon-accurate 'Battle in Space' version so I could have him in hand. (I eventually gave up because I didn't want to pay for Galvatron and Rodimus, which is a decision I'm now grateful for.) But now the world has (quite literally) outgrown that toy, for we have an even better Cyclonus in a larger size class. Kingdom Cyclonus improves upon the older toy in almost every respect, gaining a more cartoon-accurate design with an extremely impressive range of articulation. Of note is his light-piping - too many toys don't have that these days. Like Siege Shockwave, his eyes glow very well even in neutral lighting. Another obvious bonus is that both hands can now wield 5mm weapons, unlike Universe Cyclonus who could only hold one in his right hand.

Cyclonus' transformation sequence is one of the very few that made me marvel in awe. The way the large nosecone cleverly collapses into itself to form his chest is simply ingenious. The vehicle mode more than lives up to it, too. It achieves near perfect cartoon-accuracy with a smooth silhouette that improves on the Universe version's slightly blocky alternate mode. Three fold-out landing gears are present on the nose and fuselage, which is always neat when it comes to jet Transformers.

All in all, Kingdom Cyclonus is an impressive modern update on a character that beats out his older toy by a mile. Along with Studio Series Scourge, he's the perfect bot you'll want to display alongside a future Generations Galvatron.

He’s so big and hefty and cool. I’m pretty impressed with him.

Found mine at Target yesterday. Overall he’s a great figure and I am very happy with the minimal kibble in either mode. It’s a pleasant surprise, as most jet modes are phoned in with half the robot hanging from the underside.

Mine has the gaps around the cockpit but it seems common to the figure. Oh well, it’s a small complaint. The light piping is good. 4C6FACAE-E5DC-4EBE-9158-652A6645DAD2.jpeg 3151D7EE-298A-4410-8F5F-479C477C64CD.jpeg

Is it just me, or is there quite a bit of variance to the shades of purple used between the legs and the rest of the body? I picked myself a copy up a couple of days ago, and he had this almost yellow-tinted purple panel on the back of his leg. while the panel that covers up the foot hole and the entire other leg was uniform with the rest of the body. I replaced the legs with the one my cousin received (he's 7, he won't care), and they too are noticeably different in shade.

Haven't been able to put Cyclonus down, those modes are extremely compelling.

Mine has a bicep swivel that's a little loose for my tastes but otherwise still fuctional.

Thank you, that neck joint is the best addition on the figure :D

It's one of the most emotive figures I've handled in a long time

Got this guy in with Primal from BBTS and it's busted right out of the box, his right shoulder pin was broken out of the box. I hope BBTS will exchange him.

I've been out of town, then out of state, dealing with a lot of stress, and as a result, I've got a huge backlog of TF's in, most early (or at least earlier then I was expecting), so much so, I don't think I ever got as much when I was a kid! Anyway, now that I'm finally in a good place to open and enjoy them, I've started to open them, but I'm spacing them out so that they get a chance to be enjoyed and pondered. I started with the "redeco" figures, SG Prime and Ratchet and Sandstorm, but I've moved on to Studio Series Hot Rod and Cyclonus today.

A little backstory, way back in '86, after seeing TF:TM in theaters, my parents took me to Toys R Us that was just down the street from the theater and let me pick out one Transformer to get. I chose Cyclonus. We then went to McDonalds for lunch and I opened and played with Cyclonus there. After that point, Cyclonus was a "feature" character and even leader among my small Decepticon collection. I still like the jet mode to this day. Over the years, I've gotten the other Cyclonii, Classics, Henkei, Battle in Space, Combiner Wars (I had Galvatronus on Pre-order, but had to drop it due to real life issues at the time). But none, none get the Chef's kiss like this guy does.

I got mine a while ago from Amazon for the record. The closest thing I have to a complaint is the joints are hella tight, to the point where there are several that worry me and it took an extreme amount of force to get the knees to accordion up, and some finagling to get the innermost nosecone to open up.

He looks great, he feels solid, great transformation, the toy I've wanted for 30 years.

    Now, show me Galvatron dangit!
