Not certain it's as much a budget cut as copying engineering from the Masterpiece line

"Fake parts make it more toon accurate"
I dont remember him wearing 4 days of camping supplies on his back when him and Blaster infiltrated Dancitron.

You know what Im gonna say already:
    this could have been avoided...
    if only they would...

Which would have required a complete different transformation, and would have been murder on scale to get show accurate proportions. I know I already said that...
... but I just like arguing with you. :D

I watched Ton Ton's review today, and I think I'm out on this fella.
What stood out to me, besides the faff & worrying amount of transparent plastic on that too-floaty/off-puttingly hovering hood & backpack, is that it looks like someone's figured out the backpack doesn't look right in robot mode and their attempt to redress that is to f*** up the back window by overpainting it blue until it's just a slit in car mode.

Thing is there is a (pun intended) clear solution to fixing the figure to make it at least decently passable IMO, and that's get shot of the clear plastic, mould it in the same blue as the other blue parts and use the paint budget for the blue overcoat to paint his exterior windows the same as the faux robot chest ones, and I think I'll be passing on him in case a later toy deco version does exactly that.

Great? No. But better? I'd say so.

I’m with you on that slit paint being bothersome. I was hoping it was a one-off good, but seeing two of them painted that way has me worried.

Another fine solution would have been less transparent windows. A nice smoky color would’ve worked fine, instead of the shockingly clear windows they have him.

When you want a figure that's both toon accurate AND able to fit within the current price ranges...this is what happens.

$30 and they'd call them Voyagers.

Well, neither this guy nor Generations nails Tracks for me in CHUG. I'll get this guy though since he matches better aesthetically with my WFC guys.

....I don't want a figure that's toon accurate, just ones that look good in both modes :D  from most angles...

and aren't going to crumble straight out of the box like this guy creates the fear of
(which based on SS86 Jazz is a valid fear)

I wish Hasbro went the SS86 Hot Rod route with this guy, and gave us a deluxe-sized figure with voyager-scale engineering and complexity.

With this release, I feel they tried to do too much within the deluxe budget and it feels gimped in a lot of areas. That explains the overuse of clear plastic and the entire car roof hanging off the bot mode’s back.

-:sigh:- That’s my dream. A figure that can really do all three modes justice. Sadly, I don’t think Tracks is popular enough for them to justify it. Ironically, part of that perceived lower popularity has been toys that haven’t succeeded, which lowers the chance of them doing something crazy like that.

With the issues in mind, has anyone considered doing a scale comparison between MFT Flywheel and this? It would be nice to see. Obviously MFT is a bit stylised but I think a better overall figure than this.

Thanks for mentioning that figure. I had never heard of it before and might have to look into buying one now!

Flywheel is pseudo-Legends, though, so it'd be way too small for a standard Generations collection.

No. Most of it though, all the pink in the below picture is clear. Notably, the middle of the back of the car, only a bit of which you can see in those photo, is not clear. He does not appear to have any clear-on-clear joints. There’s some other type of plastic commenting each clear bit to every other.

None of it ends up as a main part of the robot either, it’s all in the backpack.

Funnily enough I thought this and Galvatron would be my only purchases for Wave 3 but I guess it looks like it might just be Galvatron now. Am going with TE Scorponok as it’s more show accurate and zi have T30 Rhinox so pass on those.
