I know it’s resin, but could you instead make:
-Option C with either a transforming crown(flip/spin the crown spire) or…
-Option D with a removable crown, like an actual crown?

In my opinion, removing one of the crown points detracts from the overall attempt at making that G1 toy head.

otherwise, I find B more appealing and more like what the G1 toy head represented.

To me G1 Galvatron toy head always reminded me somehow of a Sheikh. And the first version here also gives me that vibe.

I did consider transformation, however, everything I came up with involved an obtrusive part like a hinge or clip. At this size a feature like that would be less than an elegant solution IMO. Partsforming solves almost all issues, but it's generally undesirable in this community, so I decided not to go there. Besides, a removable crown for transformation is only one step away from a removable head. :)

I think it looks like B here, but I'll try to extend some elements to make it seem a little taller.

It always makes me think of a rook chess piece, maybe with a little of Graham Chapman's King Arthur. :)

Toy does not include facial shrubbery. Hopefully its chic enough ;)

Unfortunately, design is sometimes a battle between form and function. Transformers toys inherently have some of the greatest constraints, so the back spire isn't achievable in this instance.

About a month ago I asked as to what are the key features that absolutely need to be retained from the toy and the only response I got was that the side pieces of the crown need to be smooth and slightly curved inward at the outside. From that I extrapolated general smoothness in features and I feel that I have met that.

Thank you to everyone here for contributing and following me along the development process of the toy head. I don't normally share this much detail in my trials and decisions, but the support here has encouraged me to do so.

I will not be attempting an IDW head, due to similar concerns with the back of the crown. Instead I'll turn my attention to those on my list who have been patiently waiting.

Hi everyone! The toy heads will go up on Cults3D and I will be officially taking orders for a smaller, limited batch on Friday.

One person out of the original 40 did not receive his package, so I have given him first go at the toy head as a number one priority.

Oh man, I might go for a toy head for Selects Galvatron instead. That's great work.

Are you still doing the "smirk" head?

    Downloads
The toy heads are now available to download on cults3D
Download STL file Toy Galvatron (Four) Head • 3D printer design ・ Cults

I accidentally put them down as USD$2, rather than $3, but decided to keep that price up for a week and consider it a promo price. Every download contributes to the cost of developing the heads. I'd like them to be free, like many of my FDM ready creations, but SLA based development involves substantially more cost and consumables than that of PLA and I can't expect buyers of physical copies to carry it all. Despite this, I'd like to use this as an opportunity to encourage more people to download and print their own copies and avoid the risk and expense of postage.

    Orders
I am currently taking orders for printed and painted (toy galvatron/n4) heads via PM. The price is the same as the earlier heads (USD$13.50 +Delivery), though production numbers have been limited to adjust for changes in demand. I will be doing at most three weekly batches of five (5) heads. This allows me to reliably produce set batches on time while also attending to my existing list of people waiting on customs and spares.

Once again, I'd like to thank everyone who has supported this project, either by purchasing, encouraging, suggesting, or just following along. While it has involved a substantial amount of time and chasing the ever moving point of breaking even, it has definitely been a rewarding experience. I'll be sure to continue to be around and monitor the thread as orders go out. I may even tease the next project.

Thanks mate! Let me know via PM if you're interested in the toy head. Unfortunately the kingdom (n3) with the smirk face is only available for download now. Even the few spares I had are gone now.

Any new pix? I’m curious how it officially looks from a side and back profile.

Id also take your 4 prong Proto if you don’t need it anymore

These look fantastic. I'd LOVE to see a G1 cartoon inspired head for Earthrise Megatron. It would inspire me to custom that figure further.

I have both. I like the head as its colored for G2 Megatron, but a G1 cartoon head would be awesome.

Sure. I popped the head off, so it isn't obstructed. The back is kinda boring, but it shows the screw hole is gone. Because I lifted the front spire again, (it looks more regal to me with a taller crown), it is difficult to get the cannon to plug in now, not that I think most people would be interested in trying. The head sample is unpainted resin as printed and the same one shown on Sunday.

Hey, if you send me the pic of the version you're interested in, I can print it up. I'm happy to send out an earlier version, as I understand many of us display our figures in robot mode.

Huh, not entirely out of the realm of possibility. :)

If only there were an official MP Galvatron! Plus or otherwise.

See, I was going to be more subtle! :lol
