I had wanted to track down a T30 Rattrap (to go with Generations Rhinox and Waspinator), but I couldn't find one that was going for a reasonable price (while at the same time I was reading comments from people that it was shelf-warming in other countries. Well, that hasn't changed much). I was also regretting passing on the previous CHUG Dinobot and Cheetor because they didn't look 'quite right' to me. This is a chance for me to start building an updated Beast Wars collection with, hopefully, better figures. I had actually wanted the Beast Wars figures to be Legends-class size, due to their alt-modes, but I guess you can blame mass-shifting for the larger sizes (even if they're not quite accurate). But making Rattrap Legends size makes sense. At least there's a scale of sorts amongst the Kingdom BW figures. I'm not too fussed about the alt-mode. I'm more interested in the robot mode (as usual).
Tonton is a time traveler. Period. Well, seems like... we are going to have a Robot-rat-foots issue there.
I would want them both covering accurate beast modes, seeing as one like is over $100 per figure while the other will actually be affordable. To me whenever they do the realistic fur details on a figure it automatically looks dated. And the proportions being different to the original show like the head size is off-putting as well.
Aside from the weird... messiness of the snout and hinge on the neck, it doesn’t look that bad to me? Yeah the rear feet are weird, but since they’re obviously the robot mode feet and this is presumably Legends scale, I was expecting much simpler. This looks relatively intricate. The way it’s being held by the tail is hilarious, though. This confuses me. You call the realistic fur textures dated, yet advocate for show accurate (non)textures and proportions? Wouldn’t those look more dated on mainline toys that lack the budget to have fully show accurate sculpts and paint jobs? You’d just have a solid grey smooth plastic rat with an oversized head. It would also be a waste not to do realistic animal modes with the MPs doing show accuracy. Yeah they’re expensive, but it’d be redundant to leave one potential aesthetic totally untouched and have both go for total show-accuracy. (Especially since with BW that’s way harder to obtain than G1) I mean, when’s the next time we’re gonna get another Beast Wars line? Might as well cover as many bases as we can.
I mean, honestly that just isn't realistic though. I mean, just look at MP dinobot and what was required to get to be accurate in both modes. That's just not happening on a lower price point. Dinobot, Blackarachnia, Airazor, Terrorsaur. Getting those screen accurate beast modes into those robot modes just isn't in the cards at that price. So they need to make a compromise, and I feel like realistic animals is one of the best compromises you can make. It gives them a bit more flexibility as to how their beast modes look in order to make better robot modes.
Wow, Tonton has agents, in the field. Images haven't even leaked yet and he has a physical copy... Well I guess I hope he gets a copy of Cheetor looking forward to seeing it.
There was allegedly an image doing the rounds at the weekend so I can believe it is RUMOUR: Beast Wars in War For Cybertron Part 3 RUMOUR: Beast Wars in War For Cybertron Part 3 Walmart WFC Kingdom Listings Here's the original link to the picture https://www.instagram.com/p/CETm6OvAwNC/
About the back legs being bigger than the front legs, wouldn't really be the first time for Rattrap. Spoiler Something still seems off about it to me though, until we see the robot mode it's looking like a pass at the moment.
If you zoom in and line up the thumb with you’re own you get an idea of how big he really is. Looks to be Legends/ ER Cliffjumper scale.
Also, my dudes, Kingdom is real. It’s really real, all the leaks and listings, and now we have photo proof. Our curiosity is finally being sated, and our faith has been rewarded.
Now as long as we get a Tarantulas I'll be one happy camper. I know I go on about it but he's like my favorite and- you know how it is. Admittedly I'm already excited from what we know from Apollux, but the spawn of Unicron is missing.
Tarantulas, to me, is too much of a conspicuous absence to really be “forgotten.” I’m sure they’ll make him somehow at some point.
Hmmmmm... For the most part, I like it. If I have one quibble, it's that the front feet don't move at all, but since Hasbro couldn't even articulate the new Cyberverse Grimlock's dino arms and he's a Deluxe, then I guess I shouldn't be surprised that they did the same thing here. Loving the realistic look, even though the panels break the illusion completely, but again, that's to be expected while dealing with organic beast modes, so no complaints there.
