I agree about Cyberverse being creative...in terms of lore and storytelling. Cyberverse got really good during the second and third seasons especially, with the Quintesson arc (IMO) being the peak. Although I do find Cyberverse's characters designs a bit uninspired. They're just simplified Evergreen designs, which I mostly associate with....birthday cards and whatnot. I suppose I'll give the Evergreen designs props for not just faithfully recreating the '80s models, but I also wouldn't exactly consider them peak creativity.

Inferno: As with Grapple, I find the alt-mode a bit messy (expected as they’re based on the same mold) but overall rather nice. Lovely robot mode, and even more gun options with the ladder gun thing than Grapple. I plan to preorder this.

Huffer: All round very nice. I like that the shield isn’t just a generic looking shield, but looks like a fearsome claw weapon with those teeth. I think he might have the best looking pistol too. Another one I think I’ll preorder.

core Megs and Starscream: they’re fine for what they are, and finally a Megatron with silver paint rather than just light grey! Vehicle modes aren’t great (actually, I have a soft spot for the tank, but I’d see it as more an alien tank than the Earth tank it’s probably meant to be). Kudos for having a hand gun that homages his G1 mode and also becomes part of this alt mode. I wouldn’t normally be interested in core figures, especially owning larger better proportioned versions of the characters, but I’m interested in the upcoming ark. Having figures that scale with that would be nice, and the bot modes are decent enough for that.

I’ll probably preorder these too, if they’re around Core Prime’s price point.

Fossil guy: Generally not interested in these, or their attachment gimmick but I am impressed with all the dinosaur skeleton modes. Kudos for giving a styracosaurus a place too, when people usually go with triceratops for their horny rhinoceros type dinosaurs. I likely will pass on this.

Hasbro did have a solid idea about how to start with the base g1 stuff but evolve it into new and interesting directions. It was the aligned continuity. Sadly, not enough top level oversight of that continuity (and some sabotage by activision) killed it before it reached its full potential. So yeah, hasbro has been doing g1 homages since, but it works well enough. (and has put the mainline brand on better footing than say, the tmnt brand, which is also a nostalgia driven property.)

One of these days Hasbro really should try for Aligned mark 2, and have all their ducks in a row this time.

I don't think there's any love for him, as I said it's just someone to check off the list. This is a good rendition of his design but that's about it.

Like the SS Constructicons, no one bought them for their incredible personalities.

What about this stuff, it's definitely not anything like G1, and it's new and different. Clearly Hasbro is trying to make you happy, because this stuff definitely isn't for any fan of G1.

Huffer looks less impressive than he did in the leak. I'll probably pass on him, but I'm still eager to see Pipes

Oh, man, it's all I've ever wanted.

I don't mess with MPs because I like collecting toys, not frustratingly complex collector's pieces. I bought all that "close enough" Classics/Generations stuff and told myself it would do, but I was never satisfied. All I've ever wanted was for my toys to look like the cartoon I love and it's taken so long but we're finally here.

Yea, by creativity with characters I more meant how they were handled rather than their designs. Several characters actually had really solid arcs that weren't just G1 regurgitated

The sabotage more came from the Prime production staff rather than activision

I can only speak for myself, but the figure looks pretty awesome

Yes, once again the cartoon demonstrates why it's easier to be a toy purist than an animation fan. They were inconsistent with Grapple, too, who sometimes had an orange head, sometimes black.

I bought the SS Constructicons for their personalities :(

Jokes aside, I would think if he's such a negligible character then we should be more upset that Huffer's taking a spot that should go to a more beloved character like Skids, right?

Ten years, and I have never seen Huffer in that capacity before.

    Yeah .. those look horrible

Why do you assume if it doesn't look g1 we must like it no matter what it looks like or how bad the toys are?

Don't assume people who like stuff other than g1 have such a low bar

Hasbro has proven they can be creative before, like armada, animated, Prime, IDW and the cybertron games

All had a cool and new creative design direction

I agree. Thing is. Its not just then. Even today, cartoons can be cringy. Its just moved on from weird jokes to some lazy fart jokes and other boring or weird stuff. I think teen titans was a perfect example.

I assume he is making a sarcastic joke because Huffer does nothing but complain and many threads on the boards are full of the same people regurgitating the same complaints ad nauseum

Do we need them in 2021 or can they wait a year or two?
