You know, with the amount of times Megatron cloned Dinobot, I'm surprised BW Grimlock hasn't become canon with that explanation  

 

Problem with this logic, depending on who you talk to the guys from G1 who are "iconic" and "vital" changes. (See: Nose, Needle)

 

If you squint your one remaining badly damage eye enough...

 

Grimlock is interesting, but I wish they had stuck to the original BW colour-scheme. Although the original toy looked like a dalmation, the comic and fan-made versions proved that it didn't have to look that way.

Mirage like OK, but not worth it if you've already got the Seige version, IMO.

 

Mirage looks ok ( coulda done better with the spoiler ), but man thats a cheapout on grimlock. Looks like an optimus prime head.

 

It’s a shame that they changed Grimlock’s deco. The new one isn’t horrible, It would look a lot better if they included some on the details that the box art has though. Examples being the extended black with the green raptor eyes on the chest.

 

The closest prototypes were G1 micromasters iirc. Energon shortages led to the Great Resizing or something like that. Kind of inadveradantly foreshadowed by BB being the smallest and most energy efficient. Like you said, makes sense from a real world perspective as well.

 

You are aware of what the original BW Dinobot/Grimlock headsculpt looks like, yes? I'd say it looks even more unique than it used to, the way they bulked out the cheek guards to replace the old mutant head mounts.

 

I'm hoping Cyberverse Megatron-X shows up and messes everyone's predictions up.

 

dang, that's kind of unfortunate now that you've pointed it out.

I mean, it's obviously fine if you're not feeling it but the did remold or replace almost every single external piece of him.

I'm pretty sure Ramjet and Dirge appeared in the Mercenaries scene in Earthrise with Doubledealer, Bugbite, Thrust and the others.

Wouldn't be the first time, we saw a change between reveal and in hand. Paging Rotorstorm. WFC has been pretty good overall with the deco matching the box art. Either that, or the budget went Mirage first, retooled head, and whoops ran out midway through the paint app.  

 

I liked the BW teasing they were setting up in the Dreamwave more then meets the eye profile books: the idea that the Maximals were an outgrowth and combination of Pretender + Micromaster technology ~ a smaller/faster/stronger/more efficient future. the way the phones in our pockets are infinitely more powerful then computers that were the size of refrigerators 40-50 years ago. or even how ultra books are so much thinner and more powerful then giant bricky laptops form 15 years ago.

 

I’m sorry, what were you expecting here that you didn’t get? In fact, what were you expecting with the whole of Kingdom that you didn’t get?

Seriously. You spent so much time and energy anticipating the “Big Return of Beast Wars in Generations”, and when it came, all you’ve done is complain about it.

 

I'm waiting on that to be a payoff for whatever media follows Cyberverse. That started pretty straight forward and then ended on some alternate reality trip.

I mean, that's his gimmick. He is to BW what GEEWUNNers are to G1. Nitpick everything to death while buying most if not all of it anyway.
